French Flower Buckets...

Today is the perfect lazy summer day ,
filled with a gentle summer rain.

The rain pushes all the fragrance of the garden down,
my windows are thrown open,
the sweet scents are blowing in the breeze
and I feel like nesting :-)

(click photos to enlarge)

The lilies were not so happy,
they are sky high,
and the rain has pushed them over.
So I had to save them from the mud :-)

It gave me the perfect excuse to use my
french flower buckets...
They have been hanging around the garden shed forever
waiting for a frivolous abundance of flowers to fill them....

and that...
gave me the perfect excuse to play with my silver suitcase.
I picked this up at the local feed store,
they always have a unique variety of goodies
on their big wooden loading dock.

I knew it's distressed silver finish
would be a fun pairing
with some frilly whites...

I told you yesterday I bought a box of vintage gloves,
you'll be seeing them everywhere :-)

These are the softest leather...

You need not gild the Lily
it's elegant beauty stands alone...

I Hope your Weekend is Full of Beauty!

Dearest Bella,

That was so smart of you for keeping the lilies pure and white; not spattered by mud from the soft summer rain... They are just like a dream and your gloves and everything else is!

Have a great weekend; wishing you from Georgia,

Lovely lilies, lovely post, lovely day! I love old gloves too and had many pairs for several years that belonged to my hubby's grandmother. She had tiny little hands-almost childlike. I gave the 2 or 3 pairs I had left to my daughter. I can't wait to see all those you have found. Diana

Beautiful! I love to cut my flowers and bring them in the house. It's weird to get the idea, walk out into the yard, and all of a sudden...they're in my house!
It's so fun.

Well I can see what a lot of fun you must have had today! What a nice and evocative expression of your rainy day! You wanted some of that moisture to wander your way-- I love your lace curtain and the placement of your arrangement in front of it. Such a beautiful and interesting combination of articles. How wonderful it would be to always have flowers to fill that marvelous bucket (in the perfect color, I might add!). The white lilies are spectacular and breathtaking. I love the way they look, but their scent is too overpowering for me so I don't get them much. I love it all layered on the lace edged linen and the trunk. Really fun and pleasing to look at! Hope you don't get dunked too much! Jacqueline

Rain here today but much needed. Nice grouping of vintage items with your white lilies.

I love your pictures, you have a good eye for composing them. The lilies are beautiful, and they look so good with the French bucket and the gloves. I love mixing like that.

Hi Bella,
I love your lilies-I used to have a lot of beautiful lilies and then the lily beetle arived and ruined all but one or two.
Glad you are enjoying getting some rain -it was windy here today and there has been a hint of Fall in the air at night lately.I am not ready to give up summer yet.

What a lovely vignette in front of your lace covered window! It's so romantic, with the crocheted cloth on top of your suitcase. I need to find me some gloves...
Am visiting from Cielo's.

Hi Bella!
I love the little vignette of silver suitcase (that is just too cute!), lace, gloves and Frenchy flower bucket! Gorgeous white lilies!!!!
I found a light green flower bucket once and spray-painted it's now in my bathroom with white silk roses in it!
They are such charming and vertasile decor items, I think!
