Lazy Days of August...

The Lazy days of summer
are holding me tightly in their grasp :-)

I thought today I should shake it off
and enjoy the garden...
Would you like to come along?

(click photos to enlarge)

Remember a couple months ago
Valerian dominated this area?

The Anemone have pushed them back
and taken their place in the spotlight...

I love their sunny faces....

Pink Lilies mixed with white Phlox
make a bright display,
and smell delightful...

My loyal Gertrude Jekyll Roses
are gearing up for another burst of blooms...

The Sweet Pea have reached the top of the obelisk
are are starting to pop open...

The deep purple Hydrangea is blooming
with a backdrop of it's softer pastel colored cousins...

Here is a close-up of the pretty purple...

I don't know the variety name
it was acquired in a plant trade
with a gardening neighbor...

Tiffany Roses are always worth looking at...

A tangle of annuals in a boarder bed,
Salvia, Dusty Miller, Alyssum, and  Petunia...

A favorite annual of mine is
Salvia Victoria Blue...
Pink Phlox in the background...

A new to me this spring Rose,
making it's first good show,
Heirloom...
she is as pretty as can be :-)

Today I am joining...

Bella, Your garden flowers are beautiful. I have seen the Gertrude Jekyll rose on many blogs, I am going to purchase one next spring. I like the idea of it flower later in the season. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

Dearest Bella,

That was a great garden tour! Love your Anemones; my husband's favorite flower but they died here because of the heat. Gertrude Jekyll is a lovely rose that we have too. All your flowers look so happy and healthy! Enjoy them and thanks for allowing us to join you...

Bella~What a beautiful and wonderful garden "tour". I would love to be able to just stroll through there and smell all the scents of Summer that shimmer up from your flowers. I didn't do anything in the garden this year and I am disappointed in myself...I have missed one of the big joys of the season. At least I have been able to enjoy yours vicariously. Thanks~ Diana

Bella - what a gorgeous garden you have! You and I have the same kindred spirit when it comes to soft pastels colors in the garden. I love the mix of pale blues, pinks and lavenders. So restful and romantic! Thanks for the wonderful walk through your garden today.... :)

Good Morning, Bella,
Beautiful photos. You actually are having sunny days. We've been having a lot of rain this week, though I think we may be in for hot and dry the rest of the weekend.

I love your Anemones. They are so pretty. I think I'd actually love to plant a sea of those here around the back patio. Beautiful. Your hydrangea or looking lovely as well.

I hope you have yourself a lovely weekend,
Susan

Your garden is beautiful. My flowers always look so sad this time of year. It has been so hot that they really suffer in August. The weeds are doing quite well though, huge and healthy (unfortunately it's not the wild flowering ones doing well). At least I can enjoy your garden. Thanks for sharing.

Ah, the wonders of a Northern Hemisphere summer! A pure nostalgia trip and if I were the envying kind, I would, but since I'm not, I'm not.
Lovely flowers, with the autumn Japanese Anemone flowering profusely, fall is on its way.
