Last night it happened...
(click photos to enlarge)
The first snow of the year....
Little is more exciting to me than the magic
of snow falling from the sky!
We have never had snow this early in the year,
last year not a flake fell at all...
It's unusual to see leaves still on the trees and shrubs,
it makes the snow feel softer and less frigid...
a little surreal...
There are still roses... roses in the snow!
Small sprigs of Salvia still standing tall
dusted with white flakes...
The snow toppled the Dusty Miller onto my little angel..
giving her an umbrella of lace and snow..
Up close the Dusty Miller's leaves
looked like crystals...
Snow on berries is always beautiful...
More snow on roses...
The Mop Head Hydrangeas, were wearing caps of snow...
The Pee Gee Hydrangeas too...
Sadly this afternoon the snow has already melted
but tiny flakes are still falling,
trying to stick again...
We are forecast one more day of snow...
Then the deep freeze!
A perfect night to light the candles and gaze out the windows
of my little cottage :-)
I am joining Cielo for Show Off Your Cottage Monday
Come join the fun!
Thanks for stopping by!

wow! this does look surreal, & hard to fathom too - way too early for me though very pretty nonetheless.
Just beautiful! Roses and snow, don't usually see that:@)
You got a lot more than us! It looks gorgeous!
All the kids at our church were so excited this morning! It was cute to see.
Hi Bella, Despite the cold and bring inconvenience time like this, your flowers covered with snow have a certain charm, like all your garden statues and figures. Beautiful photos! Greetings Rose marie
Beautiful pictures of your garden in the snow. Looks amazing. I would have run out and cut all those roses though. They are gorgeous. I have to replant some roses next year. Have a great week.

Oh Bella- You can make even the dreaded (for me) snow seem beautiful. I enjoy the beauty of it as long as I don't have to go out IN it. I am more of a warm weather kinda gal. Your photos are precious and lovely. Hugs-Diana
Thank you for the beautiful pictures! I love to see garden structures with snow on them.
beautiful pictures!!
Oh Bella what beautiful pictures! Looks like you enjoyed your first snow!
Bella,
What beautiful pictures! Your cottage surely is a lovely, enchanted and special place.
Snow on those lovely flowers makes one feel like you are walking in a winter fairy's wonderland! I am enjoying this bit of snow, too!
Dearest Bella,
Indeed, the roses in the snow are quite a rare sight... Looks beautiful now but the frost will probably color the roses brown. Sad ending of a beautiful garden! But there will be new ones in the spring. Time is moving fast, so after some cozy weeks inside with lots of candle light you're looking at new blooms again. PLUS you got such beautiful pictures from the spring, summer and fall...
Enjoy your week and stay warm!

You make the snow almost bearable, Bella! lol! It is pretty coating the flowers and blanketing your little angels...We're destined for "accumulating lake effect" Thursday night through the weekend. The first snow is always exciting, especially during December. Then......it could all melt and I'd be happy....lol! Have a blessed Thanksgiving! :)

Hi Bella,
It is all so beautiful but I am surprised to see how much you still had blooming in your garden.
