Tea with Grace...

I spent a few quite moments this morning
finishing my current issue of Victoria Bliss...

(click photos to enlarge)
(Sept-Oct 2010)

Anticipating the next issue,
The Christmas issue!
Certainly to me the most prized issue of the year...

Today I enjoyed
the charm of the Autumnal scenes...

and spent time daydreaming over the garden photos,
wondering where the winding path may lead...

I am a visual person..
forever lost in the photos of magazines..

But what resonated with me today was the story
of First Lady Grace Coolidge
  and her friend Grace Medinus...

Grace Medinus didn't know the First Lady
she simply wrote her a fan letter...
and Grace Coolidge took an instant liking to her...

The two became life long friends...
For thirty years they shared
snips of plants, needlework patterns
the joys of life
and it's deep sorrows....
(like When Grace lost Calvin)

As I sit down to tea this evening,
I am thinking of their deep friendship...
a relationship built on letters..
Pen pals you might say...

I am pondering how blogging
is the modern day version of pen pals..

How very lucky I am to have met
so many amazing people!!
Spanning every corner of the world!!
People I am so lucky to call my friends!
I feel blessed!

So tonight I won't be sitting at a fancy tablescape
for my tea...

I will enjoy it catching up with my friends!
In Blogland :-))

I will be joining...
Lady Katherine at Lady Katherine Tea Parlor

Thanks for visiting me today!

Oh, I so agree that blogging has become the lost long passion of pen pals, but so much better. It's a great way to find others with the same passions in life, sometimes hard to do in our own neighborhoods. Sometimes the creative stick out like a sore thumb and others don't understand why we have to change things all time!
Lovely post, dear- Hugs- Tete

Delightful musings...reading a favorite blog is like receiving a letter from a treasured pen pal.

Dearest Bella,

Just got back from five days at the mountains of Tennessee with dear friends... This blog is a treat; very soothing after a long traveling day!
Lovely cup & saucer with great 'dreamy' photos!
Yes, pen pals in a way but there is nothing like a handwritten letter on cotton paper with a fountain pen... That can be read and re-read at times of sorrow to feel uplifted. Tucked away in a book, or out on the coffee table as a tea-companion.
Letters have survived ages and that is living proof to their value!

Have a great week and sunny greetings from Georgia,

Bella, what a wonderful reminder of how a friendship can be woven over time through the written word. Blogging is a marvelous way to meet new friends, I too have been blessed as you have to have the opportunity to meet many wonderful people and I treasure them deeply as friends that live around the corner.

But when I receive a note or letter through the old fashion mail carrier, I am moved beyond words. I mustv remember to pick up this issue of Victoria Bliss when I am out this week. Thank you for a lovely post and for sharing your wonderful words with us readers. hugs..HHL

Oh Bella...Another enchanting post. I love coming here at the end of a hectic work day and feeling comforted and soothed. Tonight is no exception.

I must say that when I was younger I had some wonderful penpals....and wonderful letters that passed back and forth between me and another 2 young mothers. One of my friends kept all the letters I sent her and bound them with ribbon and sent them back to me to read to my grown up children. It was the biggest joy to see myself through those words all these years later.

I have loved finding people here that feel like I do..that love the same things that I do..that connect me to that which I love most. You are a treasure, Bella...a true Blogging sister spirit and I am blessed to have found you here! Hugs- Diana

That is a great observation - that blogging friendships are like pen pals. I like it!

Gorgeous tea cup - does it have any markings? Just curious.

Hello Bella,
That's a perfect way to put it. What a lovely story - I think we encourage the best in each other and attempt to share the joy and bliss in our lives. I certainly have been more open to seeing those things in my daily life. Encouragement - that's what I have received and wish to give. Thank you for joining A Return to Loveliness,

Good morning Bella :) This is such a lovely post; and I do agree that blogging, and even emails, are the modern day version of writing to pen-pals. I too am amazed at all the wonderful ladies and friends that I have met since starting up my own blog months ago.

And I must say, I am so in love with your beautiful cup! Adore the sweet scallops on the saucer :)

Happy Tea Tuesday my friend!

Warmest hugs, Brenda

Hello Bella
I liked that article too as it was touching to read how two strangers could become friends with common interests.
I've met many interesting and caring ladies since I started blogging and am happy to have you as one of my new good friends.

Bella, I just posted about that very subject last month! Blogging has replaced penpals. I still write some letters to dear friends, but for the most part I blog and send e-mails. I still send cards for all occasions though. I'm glad I found your blog-it is great! I too am a lover of Victoria. Enjoy the Christmas issue-I know I will!
