Another blanket of snow fell last night...
and another blanket went on the bed
our low temp was in the teens...
The wind blew a crazy storm all night
The snow flew sideways...
Nothing was spared a coating of the white stuff!
My little rabbit sits in the gazebo
it's entire floor is cover in inches of snow...
But as is life
the calm after the storm is an amazing sight!
The bluest skies!
The roses on the front arbor trying to hang on!
Showing contrary to belief,
roses are not delicate flowers!
This tiny mini rose's last bloom of the year
bends under the snow's weight...
My pond statue
was wrapped in a stole and cap of snow
and holds a basket of icicles...
The leaves that blew into the pond
are frozen in a layer of ice...
My favorite garden swing
where we shared lavender lemon aide this summer...
is better suited to hot cocoa today!
The seed heads of the Pink Spirea
packed with snow...
This old watering can covered in snow
created a beautiful silhouette....
Mother nature had a sense of humor!
In all her blowing last night
she created snow balls
in the seed heads of the Lily of the Nile...
Creating a whimsical delight...
I mentioned last month
the Anna's Humming bird is a year round resident here...
The other hummers leave but the Anna's are unique..
Their diets change to include insects
and their heart rates slow a bit during extended cold spells
so they don't need as much food...
They are of course glad to find a sip of sugar water
and are a treat to watch...
my close up is a little fuzzy...
But, this males colors were so pretty
I wanted to share...
Today I am joining...

Dearest Bella,
What a charming winter home you have right now! The agapanthus' snowballs are indeed humorous. And the best you show are the St. Anna's Hummingbirds. The male's colors are incredible against the white snow; what a sight! For that I do envy you...
Oh, it is wonderful to cuddle up in bed under a fluffy down duvet when the temperature drops that low!
This was a very cheerful blog to read, especailly on my b-b'day.
Enjoy your week!

Almost like a Christmas Card.....so beautiful, I sure love the roses in the snow image.
Had no idea that hummers would hang around in the COLD like that...they seem so very delicate...thought they would freeze clean thru after one night in that stuff.
Is that your home....how DARLING is that ?
Rose
Oh no, I am not looking forward for snow time. Great shots you have though, my favorite is the last one.

Your photos have captured the beauty of a late Autumn snow storm! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Fantastic captures, but you really caught GREAT shots of the hummingbird - they're hard to photograph!
Your first shot is like a postcard so beautiful!! Now I thought that hummingbird will migrate during winter. I haven't seen this kind of hummingbird in my area but I will try to put back my hummingbird feeder to see if in Winter an Anna hummingbird will come and visit me. Will see!! Happy Thanksgiving!
