Pink May Day..

Who's pink door is this?
and...  what is that hanging on the knob?

(click photos to enlarge)

Yes its my Pink front door!
and a May Day Basket for you!

Don't you just love May Day Baskets?

I remember making them in Girl Scouts.
We used green plastic strawberry baskets
and wove ribbons in and out of the openings
then filled them with flowers.

My girlfriends and I
loved leaving them on our neighbors door knobs.

This basket is filled with pink blossoms,
from my flowering crab apple tree.
aren't they the sweetest:-)

Also...
Here are a couple vintage pink ladies,
with their baskets of flowers...

Don't you love vintage photos?
All the gorgeous dresses!

I hope everyones May Day is filled..
with sunshine and flowers.

Today I am joining Beverly at How Sweet the Sound

3 Tiered Planter..

Today I got out in the garden,
and did a little container planting.
The weather here has been horrible!
so much rain and wind gusts.
yesterday.. I lost a 25 foot flowering plum tree,
the ground is just so wet it tipped over,
I just hate losing mature trees:-(

Anyway...
I picked this up last year,
I don't know that it was meant to be?
But I think it makes a fun tiered planter,
I affectionately call it the Eiffel Tower.

(click photos to enlarge)

So today I tucked fresh moss in the holes in the lining,
and packed it full of little plants..

of course.. I tucked one of my rabbits in beside it.

The bottom tier is planted with  Nemesia "Violet Ice",
and all the tiers have a variety of...
Pansies, Alyssum, and Swedish Ivy,  for filler.

This pink flower is Diascia "Wink Pink"
isn't that a cute name?
I want a job making up sweet plant names!

I just love all the rusty metal work...

This top tier is planted with Campanula "Get Me",

My husband gave it to me in a cute gift planter,
that has been in the house for a week or so.
I learned today.. I had over watered the poor thing,
so it looks kinda crummy right now.
I am much better at garden plants than house plants!

Lilac Tablescape...

(click photos to enlarge)

Today... I am showing you my very simply tablescape...

I have kept color to a minimum....
just lots of clean and simple white.

I used torn white cotton with a raw edge for my tablecloth,
and simple gingham placemats at each setting.

Lilacs are in bloom!
I wanted my tablescape to be all about them!

So... I made a giant bouquet!
in an old planter from the porch,
the planterbox is wrapped in an old tin ceiling tile,
I love the rustic feel it added to the simple table.

The whole dining room smells like lilacs..
the smell of SPRING!

I know... I really should show the place setting too..

My plates are simple and white.
The napkins are mix and match vintage,
with crocheted edging...
and the silverware is just our everyday stainless.

I will be leaving the table set like this..
as long as the lilacs hold up.

Since my husband works odd hours...
we will mostly be using the table for lunches.
So I will be using the white plates as chargers..
and bringing lunches in already "dished up".

I do hope we get to enjoy it at least once though,
 with the sweet candlelight  :-)

Today I am joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch

Spring Table Top...

Tonight I am showing you the top of a dresser...
I keep in my tiny family room.

I have dressed up in a spring theme...

My backdrop is an old tin ceiling tile..
I picked up at an estate sale.
I hung it using a torn strip of white muslin.

My lilacs are just starting to bloom...

I love this reproduction lamp...
the lovely lady is happily swinging in the lilacs :-)

I also picked up this plate recently..
I have been loving bright white dishes,
with pink edging lately.
They look so cheerful!

This is a real nest I found last year...
It's so small and delicate.
I set it in the crook of a fake dogwood branch.

Here is a close up on the sweet little nest,
I put a clutch of fake eggs in it.

Today I am joining Marty at A Stroll Thru Life

A few more flowers from around the garden...

(click photos to enlarge)

In front of my picket fence I have a thin flower bed...
I have a mix of ground covers growing there.
Here you can see the Ajuga Reptans and
Pink Panda Strawberries (ornamental) are blooming.
I think they make a beautiful pairing.

Here is a close up of some Rockcress...
still dripping wet from a spring shower.

and a close up of Lily of the Valley,
the sweetest spring flower of them all:-)

I showed off my bouquet of Lily of the Valley on Friday..
click here to see that post.

I am joining Todays Flowers
Stop by and see all the flowers...
bloggers are sharing them from all around the world!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Pink Petals...

Lets go for another trip around the garden..

(click photos to enlarge)

Just a common pansy...
but... nothing is happier,  or blooms longer,
and they are one of my favorite garden flowers.

It's raining pink around town.
The kwanzan cherry trees are dropping their blooms..
I saw these mature trees while I was in town today,
the lawn was covered in petals... just gorgeous:-)

The rhododendron is my states flower,
(Washington State)
but to tell the truth I am not a big fan...
I like a more delicate leaf and flower.

On a garden tour I saw smelled a Rhododendron Fragrantissimum...
(yes.. a fragrant rhodie!)
I was sold on the smell and bought this one..
I planted it a couple years ago...
this year it is covered in blooms and smells great!

and ... because of my fellow lovers of pink houses....
I wanted to share this one with you .
It is in a neighboring city, and I always admire it.
The wisteria is blooming across the porch... so sweet!

Today...  I am joining Beverly at How Sweet The Sound
for Pink Saturday.

Lily of the Valley...

In the Victorian era...
each flower carried an assigned meaning.
In the "language of flowers"
The Lily of the Valley signifies the return of happiness.

Legend tells of the affection of a lily of the valley
for a nighingale that did not come back to the woods
until the flower bloomed in May.

(click photos to enlarge)

For Christmas a few years ago,
my Mom gave me this beautiful...
Fenton lily of the valley basket vase.

It's become my tradition that...
Every year when the lily of the valley bloom..
I fill my little Fenton basket.

Here is a close up of the dainty bells...
they smell as sweet as they look!

Rose & Moss Wreath..

I have been wanting a new wreath,
for the side of the front porch,
it's kind of empty over there..

(click photos to enlarge)

I had been wanting something mossy,
and then I found these sweet little roses..
and the plan was born.

Everything came from Joann's Fabrics..
the florals were 1/2 price,
right after Easter.

Everything is done with my crusty hot glue gun...
you don't want to see that :-)

I glued the moss on loosely..
so it had lots of fluff to it..
I wanted it to have a soft airy look
and... so I could tuck the flowers into it,
and hide the stems.

Here is the finished  rose and moss wreath...

and... here we are on the side of the porch,
I leaned the wreath on the sill of this old window.
The glass in the window was replaced with mirrors..
I had a large empty wall on this side of the front porch..
and found this mirror/window at a garage sale last fall.
I really enjoy the way the window filled the space.

Here is a photo of the side of the porch in February,
if you would like to see a broader photo.

Today I am joining Gina at The Shabby Chic Cottage
