A Late Christmas Present...

Silently my most desired Christmas wish arrived,
a little late...

(click photos to enlarge)

In the wee hours of morning,
a light dusting of wet snow...

I, like a child on Christmas morning, couldn't sleep...

I had to silently explore
the twinkle and magic
that only snow can create...

A few scatterings of Christmas lights on the patio
enhanced the magic...

This is the King Edward Red Flowering Currant Bush
you can see it already is forming flower buds for spring..

It will bloom in February
and be a major source of food
for our winter hummingbirds
(if you missed that post and would like to see the
Anna's Hummingbird in the snow

The trees in the park across the street
flocked to perfection:-)

I hope everyone is enjoying their holidays?

I miss you all so much!
This is the one time of the year Mike is home for

we have been having so much fun doing... NOTHING!

Don't Forget the Big Guy...

Do you wonder where I have been all week?

(click photos to enlarge)

Right after Thanksgiving
I told you I had brought home a new project...

Well, it would be insane to start it right before Christmas
but... I seem to have a problem with patience...

See my house may be very old
but it is fireplace challenged...

Of course I haven't really finished my project
and I'll share the completion with you
in the next couple weeks..

For now...
I am thrilled to have a place to hang my stockings...

Have you been naughty or nice?

Don't forget to bribe leave cookies out for the big guy tonight!

Believe...

May your Christmas be filled with magic
and all your dreams come true!

Merry Christmas!

Icy Hall Tree Mirror...

(click photos to enlarge)

I am still dreaming of a White Christmas...
Though sadly it's not in our forecast...

So I may just have to pretend
and enjoy my icy decor...

Last week I shared my Icy Mirror
in the dining room
if you missed it and would like to catch up
here is a link...

Tonight I thought I would share my hall tree mirror..

First...
A heavy blast of frosty spray...

A twinkling star takes center stage...

A scattering of ribbons and tinsel garland
swag lazily above...

Icicle shaped chandelier crystals
dangle from a silver chain...

My Icy Dream...

I can't remember a worse December
Just watch those icicles form
What do I care if icicles form?
I've got my love to keep me warm

Time to Smell the Roses...

It is time to smell the roses
and the pine...

(click photos to enlarge)

I love the combination...

With Christmas Eve only a week away,
it's time to fill my house with fragrance..

It's the icing on the cake...

I built a traveling centerpiece
on a silver tray...

Perfect to keep close by
through all the activities of the weekend...

I tucked mercury glass votives in
among the bits of pine,
warming and freeing its scent...

The beauty of roses and candlelight
may seem cliche...

But really it can't be beat...

The ethereal glow
a place to find quiet peace....

Before the rush of last minute holiday chores...

Don't forget to take time
 to smell the roses :-)

Tonight I am joining...
Beverly for PINK SATURDAY
and

Thanks for sharing a quiet moment with me tonight..

My Other Stick Trees...

I have shown you my Parlor tree
and my Silver Tabletop tree...

(click photos to enlarge)

As promised
I am sharing with you
my last two decorated trees...

This tree sits on top of the Armoir
 in the family room...

The ornaments on it
 began on the parlor tree
at first I used birds, flowers, nuts and pine cones..

Then I changed to just birds and flowers...

So I stared a nut tree :-)
and moved the richer toned balls to it..

This vintage red cotton bird
is right at home among the jewel tones...

Of course
where there are nuts...
there must be a squirrel :-))

So by now...
you must be thinking Mike is incredibly patient
to do so much ornament shopping!

But truthfully
My man loves fish!

So.. I got him started on a fish tree
many years ago....

Fish in trees is kinda weird...

But,  they look so whimsical
swimming and jumping in the pine branches...

I love this little seahorse...

and some fish have pretty glittered spots :-)

Yes he loves fish... all fish..

The sea shells under his tree
he has collected scuba diving in the Puget Sound...

Tonight I am joining these parties!

My Icy Archway...

Can you believe...
There are only nine days until Christmas!

Where is the time going?

(click photos to enlarge)

Do you remember when I showed you my archway
decorated in fall branches?
(if not, you can peek at it here)

I told you I revamp the branches for winter
and thought I'd share that with you today...

Oh yeah...  several of you asked
Don't the leaves fall from the branches, when they are brought inside?
only two fell...

The branches were spray painted metallic silver
a little glitter sprinkled on them
(most of it blew away,  the weather has not been nice here!)

As you must know by now
I love the look of icicles...

These are giant,  almost a foot long!

I think they look the most beautiful when the room is dark
and the icicles glow with just a bit of light from a candle
or the Christmas tree..
so soft and magical.

I just couldn't catch it with my camera...

Today I will be a late joiner of
Transformation Thursday at The Shabby Chic Cottage

Thanks for stopping my...

Silver Tinsel Tree...

On Tuesday
I shared tea with you under my tinsel tree...

(click photos to enlarge)

and...
Promised to share it with you
when I finished decorating...

If you missed my first post about
my little tinsel tree
you can view it HERE...

I love the old fashioned look of stick style trees....

They are great for showcasing ornaments...

My ornaments are a mix of old and new,
mostly found at garage sales...

All the ornaments started out
 on the big foyer tree...
(you can see that here if you missed it)

As my collection outgrew the tree,
I grouped them up into themes
and added smaller trees around the house..

I have two more trees,  I'll show you soon!

I love the look of old glass ornaments
with their scuffs and scars....

I can't get enough glitter at Christmas!

I am joining these lovely parties..
