David Austin's Roses....

In the spring I shared with you
my newly purchases David Austin Roses....

(click photos to enlarge)

most of them have had a few good shows this summer,
but a few have struggled...

with our lack of sunshiny days,
we have been struggling with mildew...

and I as I learned in this shot
more aphids than I knew :-)

don't you love the things you find in your photos...
like the dusty mirror, or surprise spider web :-)

the lack of sun has also left a few guys feeling a bit,
lanky....

though none are lacking in jaw dropping beauty....

and I am sure,  the sun will shine again...
tomorrow:-)

so I gathered up the lovelies,
and brought them in out of the gloom,
to shine....

I love the idea of putting each little gem in their own bottle or vase, it is very effective on your gorgeous coffee table. x

I love your display of roses.
And yes, I do discover unexpected things in my pictures too. Just two days ago I posted about nature and wildflowers and in one picture there were so many insects in a flower, just amazing, all crawling through it; I only discovered this when I looked at the picture on my computer back home. So weird to hear the same here from you :-)
Bye,
Marian

Dear Bella,

Your roses look beautiful! In my garden it's the same as in yours. Some did very well, while others simply didn't do much. I love the display of roses on your table.

Have a lovely evening!

I am a big fan of David Austin roses. I love yellow roses and 'Graham Thomas' is one of my favorites. I have to try some of those you mention.

Hi Bella:
So pretty in the wee bottles on the silver tray. I have a silver tray that I was debating on putting in my shop or not. I think I will keep it after seeing this gorgeous display!

Lovely! My David Austin roses never do very well. I have to admit, I am a lazy gardener and they must need some coddling. Your little peek at your home looks wonderful!!!!

Bella, dear, you have had unusually gloomy weather this year ... even for your part of the country. Don't judge the performance of your new roses by what they have done in their first year under these conditions.

Your other problems are simple to solve. Mildew (and blackspot) can be prevented by application of fungicide twice a month. Leave the aphids and other bugs alone. Here in my garden (of over 800 roses) I let the birds and the good bugs eat the bad bugs and things are pretty well balanced. I still have a few aphids and beetles and other baddies, but nothing that gets too out of hand. This makes for a healthier garden, and a whole lot less work for the gardener.

If you have rose questions, I'm here whenever you need me!

What a treat to find your blog this morning. I also have roses, and a new book about my life among the roses, but in my climate rose season is essentially over. I'd invite you to the Annual Rose Viewing in June if you were closer.

Today I brought inside a few roses too, but mine are not as pretty as yours. Cosmo is so sweet. I didn't notice him at first in that picture.

Hello Bella
The Austins may be sad in the garden but they're still very pretty and I can imagine the fragrance.
Cosmo is like most little boys wanting attention and you should be sharing him more often. :-)
