Just Washing Dishes...

The late to arrive summer
we have been enjoying in the Northwest
seems to have come to an abrupt end today....

I awoke to a soft delicious drizzle,
a teaser for the rain we need and I can't wait
to listen to falling on the roof....

With a bit of fall weather,
I can turn my attentions
back into the house
and work on neglected interior projects....

(click photos to enlarge)

we have been working on the kitchen for awhile,
and dishes have been stacked in the pantry,
some packed away,
and more bought at garage sales and stashed away...

today is a day for washing and sorting....

putting together groupings....

it's like Christmas rediscovering each piece....

a group of pie birds got together
and had a lot to squawk about...

this favorite two handled dish,
is usually used for a vase...

today it was put to work,
holding Hollyhock seed pods gathered
on this mornings garden stroll...

I love mix match and looking for interesting groupings...

then there is the luck
when a pair of long lost American Beauty's are reunited...
or perhaps meeting for the first time...

it's no secret rosy china is my favorite....

the romance of a platter...
that has been lovingly washed
so many times...
that the gold edging is a ghost of it's former shiny self...

the elegant lines of white simplicity...

and the romance of real garden fresh roses,
while they are still mine to be be admired...

I have so much to do to finish my upper cupboards,
boxes of dishes to wash,
(not like this is a horrible job :-)
lace to add to the cupboards edges,
hang my corbels
 and the baby chandelier...

I can't wait to share my finished uppers with you,
soon....

Today I am joining,
and

Thanks for stopping by today,

What a darling collection! This is the look I had a lot of in the shop when I first started long ago. It's SO very pretty here! I'm listening to thunder roll over right now. Don't you think fall rain is the best? xx A BIG congrats on that big number!

I love your china! Yes, the change of weather gets us inside, doesn't it. I'm adjusting to have almost the whole day free since my boys are both in school now. So many plans, so little energy. :)

Lovely, lovely, lovely, can't wait to see the lace edged shelves. I'm having some lovely cupboards built in an unused corner of my laundry, and can't wait to display my goodies and also put lace edges on the shelves, it is such a pretty addition. xx

You've got a lovely assortment Bella! The weather did change so fast, didn't it? It was like flip-flops and tees to socks & shoes and Fall coats, just like that! Take care!

You have such pretty china! I'm curious. What do you use for lace on the shelf edges and where do you buy it? I live in Canada so haven't found anything here. I just laid an oval lace doily, the kind people used on their chairs and sofas to protect the arms, under the saucers and let it hang down but love the lace edging idea. Have a lovely day!

Dear Bella,
I have been busy this week loading the car with old dishes that I have to let go. Once I arrived at the Goodwill I almost turned around and went back home..and I so wanted to go inside to see what new delights I could find. But, I slowly made an exit. If I find lovely china like these I would have to find a bigger house..these are all so beautiful...and they are well worth the washing..
