The Queen of the Flowers...

This morning I found a pair of perfect roses,
on my unknown rose bush...
(I really am going to have to invent a name for her!)

One thing led to another
and my favorite rose book was brought out
to linger over a bit...

The Romance of Roses
an anthology of verse and prose...

it probably isn't too hard
to figure out who I consider the
Queen of Flowers...

The Queen of the Flowers

The cowslip is a wench,
the violet is a nun,
But I will woo the dainty rose,
the queen of everyone.

Thomas Hood

A posy of loveliness... and how clever of you to make the lilac rose look as if she is holding it!

I've just posted a sad tribute to someone who died very young, and your post has brought the sun out again for me :-)

I Love the Victorian Lady. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to dress the way they did and walk in the rose gardens to pass the time, pausing to smell their sweet purfume. Lovely post Bella xx
