A Cozy Tea with Iris...

I have been enjoying the cool fall weather,
but last night it turned on me...

I love to keep the windows cracked at night,
but last night...
I had to get up and close them
 all up tight,
and go searching for fuzzy socks...

(click photos to enlarge)

when it gets coldish
It is time to bake...

I set up my little tea party,
in a snuggly corner of the couch...

a cake stuffed with Roses,
makes a sweet centerpiece...

the first cookbook I ever owned
is the Better Homes red cookbook,
and it's still where I turn for basic recipes...

this applesauce cake is a yearly favorite...

and yes,
 Roses are also a favorite...

besides they don't want to spend the day outside
in the nasty cold either :-)

a rosy teapot...

and rosy china...
a big mug,
and a mismatched big plate...

make a pretty couple...

 and are a good place
to balance a piece of cake...

after the cake has been cut,
the too simple secret to the sweet centerpiece...

a jelly jar
tucks into the center of a bundt cake easily,
and when the cake is gone,
you still have a simple bouquet :-)

so this has been a post covered in Roses,

about now maybe you are wondering
why the title is...
A Cozy Tea with Iris
?

Iris was my tea companion today,

she is fascinated by the cake!
I couldn't keep her away...

the silly little thing has the biggest sweet tooth...

Today I am joining these tea parties...

Thanks for joining me today...

The whole setting is just so comfortable and comforting, Bella. The roses added to decorate the cake is such a gracious touch. I can't help but wonder if you've always had such a wonderful eye for detail and beauty. I do think it must be a gift.

Hello Bella,
I love your cozy tea and I love the roses in your cake. You know, I do that too! What could be prettier than a bouquet of roses? The bundts and tubes make decorating a cake like this so easy and it is simple and beautiful! I love the chintz on your sofa; such a sweet pattern. I've really enjoyed having tea with you and I thank you for sharing it with us. Enjoy your week.

Blessings,
Sandi

Hi Bella,
this is a fantastic roses themed tea time. I love how you set the tea in a snuggly corner. All the things are so pretty. Love the lace runner and the roses on the cake. And surely your tea mug and tea pot are real pretty. Don't miss my post - you will love it because it is very rose themed, too. Thank you for sharing this wonderful tea time.

Bella, Your cake is gorgeous, as is your setting! I have two of the Better Homes and Gardens red and whites; one was a shower gift in 1976 and in more recent years, I bought an updated one. They are very different and I use both of them. Have a good week!

Hi Bella. Every visit to your blog is like stepping into my most favorite fantasy. i love what you did with the cake and roses.... I will definitely borrow that idea (especially since I also love that very same cookbook AND that recipe...).

I have my late mother-in-law's copy of that cookbook with her handwritten notes in the margin. I adore it because it was hers! I can almost smell the applesauce cake baking now!
