I have been slow to start my Christmas decor this year...
I am usually
a get it all done the weekend after Thanksgiving girl...
this year I wanted to shake up tradition,
try something different,
leave the fake trees in the attic,
dream a new dream...
do you nest hunt?
in the autumn
when the last leaves have fallen
I love to look for nests...
these mossy delights
are the most common nest style found here...
tradition says that a nest in your Christmas Tree,
will bring you luck in the coming year...
so when I found this nest
in this perfect little tree top,
I decided to make it my tabletop tree...
besides with two puppies
a tabletop tree was a good idea!
the pups are eight months old now,
what I think of as the rebellious teenage years :-)
a pretty little silver bird
roosts in the nest...
and sparkle was added...
snow and ice are a common theme
in my Christmas decor..
because,
I am always dreaming of a white Christmas...
I love the soft ghostly patina
of vintage balls...
only a hint of color remains...
the silver bird looks content,
maybe she too is dreaming of a White Christmas,
snuggled warmly in her soft mossy nest...
Today I am joining...

Rustic Christmas
Thanks for stopping by today!

I love it, especially with the crystal and glitter on it. I have collected a few nests myself. The last few I just took pictures of. I was hoping the owners would reuse next year. I have had Robins nest on our front porch for several years, they refix up the existing nest quite often. Have two abandoned as well as the one thats been used 3 times. They are works of art.

Hiya Bella! What a pretty post!! That is the most beautiful nest I have ever seen. I've never seen a mossy one before. Your twig tree is over the top. And your photos are just dreamy. I guess you'll be having lots of good luck!xx
Hi Bella, that is so beautiful, I just love it, as I love all of Nature... the nest is precious... I know too well about puppies!... This is Tessy's first real Christmas in her forever home, so most things are on higher ground... xoxo Julie Marie

Just my style... It beautiful....
Hello Bella,
Your tree is very lovely! And I do nest hunt. This past fall I gathered five of them, two of them had eggs inside.
Have a beautiful week!

Bella- What a darling tree for you! I love it. We always do a bird's nest in our tree, too. I think it is part of the "feathering one's nest" tradition. Your tree looks almost pup proof! xo Diana
This is just beautiful and I want one! You know this is more of what Christmas should be than all of these other trappings we put out.
It does look simplictic but sentimental. Pat
Love you nest, and it looks perfect in your tree!
Bella, that is the sweetest tree. xx jeanetteann
I just love your Charlie Brown tree, I is so precious!!

I love this--adorable! Now I want one too:)
So beautiful and creative!
I'm behind with winter decorations too. I got my fake Christmas tree out, but I can't find time to put away the fall decor.
Perfect against the window. It must really sparkle. So simple, and yet so stunning.
Wonderful idea Bella!!
I see we are all going very natural and easy this year!
Come over to see my first decorations if you like!

That is the most adorable tree I have seen. Love it. Now I have to go check out some of the trees on your sidebar.
Hi Bella
What a great idea to decorate a tree of branches. Following the decorating rule of less is more, I think this simple holiday tree is just as pretty as the ones you had last year.
Judith
I really love that!
I love the clean simple look of the tree. I don't think I would be able to break our tradition, but it is lovely.
Blessings,
Gayle from Behind the Gate
