I have always loved
May Day...
as girls,
my girlfriends and I loved to sneak around the neighborhood
early in the morning,
dangling baskets
from the doorknobs of our favorite neighbors...
the baskets those days
were made from plastic strawberry baskets
with ribbons woven through the slits...
now it's fun to make something
more eleborate...
something,
I made to hang
on YOUR virtual doorknob...
my dear sweet blogging neighbors...
to wish each of you a
Happy May Day...
Today I am joining...
and
Happy May Day...

How sweet--I actually forgot about May day! I remember as a child making little cones at school and filling them with flowers to leave at the neighbors. I don't think they do that anymore.
Hi Bella: Such a sweet May Day basket of lilacs..Happy May Day to you..Judy
Beautiful post. Happy May Day to you! Your post makes me smile.

Why THANK YOU! It's gorgeous! Just the sort of thing you would do! Happy May day to you to! xx
What a pretty May Day basket. Going A-Maying or running out to bathe in the morning dew are both rather unappealing propositions here I'm afraid as it's pouring with rain yet again. Still, hopefully there are many beautiful days to come in this loveliest of months - Happy May Day:)
What a lovely thing to do (hanging flowers on door knobs) we used to go marching on May day with the Girl Guides. Have a wonderful May. Dawn xx
I love lilacs, I wish we utilized this lovely day more. you just don't see this anymore. nancy
Ah yes...Mayday. Here in the U.K it's pouring with rain, blowing a gale and cold...so no lilac for us.
I should have been out with my Morris men,up with the lark...but.... I can'y manage day's like this any more. Sad.
Have a look here to see what Mayday is about here in the U.K.

Hello Bella, Thank you for the lovely May Day basket for my door. It is beautiful. Have a wonderful day.
Hi Bella,
I really want one of those-thank you! Your lilacs are beautiful-we had a freeze last night so I had to go out and make sure the buds were okay and thankfully they are tough.
Thank you for the beauty you always share.
Carolyn
How absolutely lovely. May Day is special to me too, always celebrated it as a child.

Happy May Day, sweet Bella. On May 1st my cousins and I would always go out into the woods and pick Mayflowers (pastel flowers that look like sweet violets). I hope you havea wonderful day- xo Diana

So beautiful...I can almost smell those lovely lilacs!
Thank you for the lovely May Basket, Bella! I still place small containers of May flowers from my garden on a neighbor's doorknob. It's always fun to wonder when they'll see it and if they'll know who it's from. Take care....
So pretty. I love your May basket! Thank you!
BELLA!!!
It is SO NICE to see someone else has the same memories. I always did May Day too!
I usually make cones too - yours are fabulous by the way - but this y ear I only made one and it was a larger one for my daughters door.
Lovely post, so well done!
Bella, such a sweet gesture to share with your friends! I get such joy from reading your bog!

Your style has evolved quite a bit since the early days of strawberry baskets woven with ribbon. Thank you for the beautiful virtual gift. It's lovely! ;)
