A Halloween Past...

Since I have been goulishly lazy this Halloween,
I thought I would resurrect an old post
from Halloween's Past...

..................

An old graveyard seems like a good place
to spend Halloween....

Unless you are afraid?

A good place to to be at dusk
when the world of the living
and the world of the dead
are only divided by
a thin line...

energy swirls in the air...

Try to move quickly
we don't want to get lost in the
maze of pickets...

This marker is that of a young bride,
who met a tragic end on
her wedding day ;-)

We should tread quietly
for awhile...

Funny and a little eerie
that so much moss grows in a sunny location...

Happy All Hallows Eve to you!
Stay Safe!!

A bit of trivia...
This old and truly very lovely graveyard is in
Roslyn, Washington.
Roslyn is the town that the TV series
Northern Exposure was filmed..

A strange and non eerie thing about the cemetery is
that deer are always wandering about!!

Who knows what they see after dark!!!

I am joining the fun at...

Happy Hauntings....

Floppy Fall Roses...

I gather roses..

just a small handful...

I think I am afraid
to pluck them all at once,
I have to ration them out...

savoring...

a treasured china hand vase,
clutches my floppy fall roses...

chippy porcelain flowers
add to my delight...

Love planted a rose,
and the world turned sweet.
Katharine Lee Bates

are you savoring the last blooms?

Today I am joining...

Happy Weekend !

Hydrangea Wreath

I have been cutting Hydrangea blooms
from the garden...

 for a wreath...

I decided to hang it from the hall tree,
and do a little fall decorating...

I always drag my feet into fall,
it's just so hard to say goodbye to summer...

 the dried blooms
were in this fabulous rainbow of soft colors...

so I tried to create a swirl pattern in my wreath...

in contrast,
these Hydrangea blooms from last year,
have turned a bone white...

have you seen these Pink Pumpkins
in your local stores?

they are from the Pink Pumpkin Patch
foundation
and benefit breast cancer research...

there aren't many places you want warts,
but I love them on a pumpkin!

and a basket full of roses...

 I would like to think
I could leave this basket
 here beside the hall tree,
because I really like it here...

but,  although Iris is a year and a half now
(doesn't time fly?)
she still has naughty tendencies...

or maybe,
she just really likes that romantic
scattered look,
hmmm...

 Tonight I am joining...
and

Thank you for stopping by...

Fall Harvest and Po....

I have all these odds and ends
on my camera....

kinda harvesty,
kinda gardeny,
some cute animals...

so I thought I would group them up
and share today....

Pee Gee Hydrangea blooms,
gathered for wreath making....

cream and blush tones,
these are the soft colors of autumn
I love...

I harvested my little pumpkin patch...

and gathered the sunflower heads,
I will dry them and save them for winter treats
 for the Chickadees...

It was a small harvest this year,

We had a record dry year
and I really should have watered more...

there is something you never thought you'd hear someone in Seattle say
"I should have watered more"
haha!

well this pic does not count as one of the cute animal pics
I said I would share!

but,   it is a family tradition...

when the first freezes of the year come...

we gut the veggie garden
and let the dogs,
have run of the beds,
to forage what they can find....

Yes, it is strange,
but Italian Greyhounds
Love their veggies....
carrots,  lettuce, bell peppers...

Cosmo,  being an experienced forager,
knows just where the good stuff is....

the last baby heads of Romaine...

for several years,
I have been feeding Opossums in the garden,
mostly apple bites tucked in the bird feeders,
a little dog food during the coldest winter months...

this sweet baby opossum showed up last week,
he is sooo little...

the tips of his ears and tail are so white,
and look at those big ol feet!

I named him Po
and hope he'll hang around...

Today I am joining....
and

Thanks for stopping by....

How About a Stroll, in the Veggie Garden?

 Hi Everyone!

We have been strolling my garden
all spring and summer together...

I thought today you may like to putter around the working side of the garden?

My little veggie garden...

don't worry the roses are alive and well
and I am sure I'll be sharing them with you again soon...
:-)

a big bright
 Sunflower welcome to fall...

the delicious fruits of labor...

this year I decide to use open pollination,  no gmo,
heirloom veggies...

and found a wonderful local company

these cherry tomatoes are from their sampler...
the fat yellows may be the sweetest
 I have ever tasted....

it is also nice,
since here in the Northwest are growing season isn't as hot or long,
and tomatoes and pepper are sometimes a challenge...

they have varieties
that grow here beautifully...

my veggie garden
is where I embrace my rustic junker side...

like the galvanized colander from the free bin above.,,

a simple old porch rail,
is turned on end...

and salvaged as a trellis
for the green beans...

the herbs are homed in
rusted through enamelware canning pots....

easy drainage :-)

I call the pan above
a nut roasting pan,
because it looks like the one I use at Christmas for Chestnuts....

but maybe it has another truer purpose?

either way it makes a pretty backdrop...

an old camp coffee pot
is happy brewing up some Lavender...

I have nine raised beds,
and a pumpkin patch...

do you remember the frog population explosion
I was telling you about?
(here if you missed it)

there are dozens of tiny baby frogs
who have taken refugee in the grass...

so we haven't had the heart to mow...

so this year we are sporting our lawn
Au Naturel...

I also love growing pumpkins...

If you have the chips,
I have the salsa...

Happy harvest season!
and

Thanks for stopping by today!
