Decking the Halls...

Today was the day,
the day I toted
 all the Christmas boxes downstairs...

I am intoxicated by glitter & sparkle,
and tired...

on Black Friday,
I went to the final sale of a favorite retired antique dealer...

this tweet birdie bowl
was among the goodies
 I brought home....

I put it to work,
holding baubles and hooks...

it is time to fluff curls
and sprout wings...

I have the pink balls on the tree,
but there is much more to do...

even though my tree came pre-lit,
with mini-lights...

 I added a strand of C7's

I read this as a tip on Pintrest
and love the result,
it gives the tree that extra pop...

I am always
Dreaming of a White Christmas....

Let is Snow...

Today I am joining...
and

Thanks for visiting me today....

Unboxing the Tree...

I unboxed my new Christmas tree today,
that is as far as I have gotten...

the holidays go by so fast,
sometimes it's nice to linger...

I am smitten with my new tree,
and could almost just enjoy it plain,
unadorned...

fresh and pristine as the first snow...

I have learned many of you are looking for a flocked tree!
I bought mine at McLendons Hardware
a small Northwest Washington hardware store chain.

but those pink balls,
are calling...

as if,
this wasn't all enough goodness
for one day...

the mailman delivered
the new David Austin catalog today....
(don't forget to order your free catalog)

what to do?

am I going to TRY
to take it slow...

today I am joining...
Home
and

Thanks for stopping by...

The Last Fall Tea...

I know the calender says
fall will still be with us another month or so...

but to me,
when the last of the Thanksgiving Dinner
is eaten...

it is officially Winter
and Christmas season has begun...

so I am sharing my last tea of fall today...

fall is about rich smells and tastes...

cinnamon...

Pumpkin bread
with chocolate chips...

I made a loaf with chocolate chips and one without,
the without sat sadly untouched,
till long after the with was all gone...

the garden still has a surprise bloom here and there...

I foraged around for this bouquet of
Yarrow,  Heavenly Bamboo Berries
and a single Gertrude Jekyll Rose...

treasured...

Have you Decked Your Halls?

My Mr.  went back to work today
after a holiday break,

I am ready to deck the halls,
but have to clean them first,  haha!

Today I am joining...

and

Thanks for joining me today...

Shiny Brite and Sugar Sweet...

I am always on the look out for Christmas goodies
at garage sales...

simple pink Shiny Brites
always top my list...

I way lucky to find a couple boxes this year...

and one box of these small pink ones,
they are as sweet as sugar...

I am dreaming of a Pink Christmas...

and
 a White Christmas,
I went out last week and bought a big old flocked tree,
I am dying to set it up!

wishing you a
shiny brite and sweet weekend...

Today I am joining the fun at...
and

Mixed Metals...

Since my dining room has been "under construction"

I haven't done a tablescape
in a very very long time...

I thought it was about time to dust the dishes off...

these new plates
were a summer garage sale find...

the gold rim
makes them hard for me to think about using
 in any season except fall...

the garden bouquets are getting smaller...

these precious blooms are tucked
into silver salt and pepper shakers...

I think the gold tones in the tarnished silver
mix well with the gold rim of the plates...

a silver platter and a gold rimmed china platter
pair up for the base of my centerpiece...

a potpourri of roses,
 fresh and dry
mixed with local acorns...

soft fall light...

candlelight...

fall roses...

Tonight I am joining...
a New Party Hosted by Sandi at The Rose Chinz Cottage
and

Thanks for stopping by....

Dining Room Changes...

Slowly,
over the summer,
I have been making changes to my dining room...

always thinking
I will share it when I am finished...

truthfully,
are we ever finished?

isn't it completely different?

it started with this corner hutch,
it was my problem area,
small and awkward...

I found the hutch
for cheap at a garage sale,

crossing my fingers it would fit,
perfect...

my very dark wood bench was next...

painting and chipping...

then the table and chairs...

there is nothing fickle
about my love for my ruffled tablecloth...

I still have it on the table...

for fall
I added this drop cloth topper...

the edges of the drop cloth
are left raw...

a leather and lace
kinda thing...

as you can see the chairs are still waiting
 to be reupholstered...

I have a large upholstery project,
I want to try to tackle this winter...
so I treated myself to a pneumatic stapler,
I am waiting for it's arrival...

I am lovin all the white...

and have sooo much more
to do...
always :-)

today I am joining,
and

Thanks for stopping by today....
