Ballet Dreams...

Do you buy yourself something
absolutely frivolous on your Birthday...

something just for your heart?

my birthday was last month,
and I bought myself
these tattered old pointe shoes..

to me, perfect...

I love ballet

the grace,
the tutus,
and perfect pink of the slippers...

the shoes tell their own stories...

Julia's penciled in commitment...

dedication!

another whose dedication wavered...

it would be impossible to take photos on a bed,
without a few lazy dogs showing up...

Miss Daisy...

Miss Iris,
always intense!

the girls are coming up on their second birthday!
already!!

the Prince of the Pillow,
Randy...

Sweet Ballet Dreams...

the dreams of old dogs...

maybe the ballet of squirrel chasing?

could I resist a Cinderella moment
and not slip these tattered old shoes on my feet?
No..

they are a perfect fit,
so if you see the dents from ribbon laces on my ankles,
you'll know
I have been dreaming of my own little ballet...

My secret is safe with you...
right???

Today I am joining the fun at...
and

Thanks for stopping by....

Love your ballet slippers! I have never done ballet in my life--but always have loved the romance of ballet. The shoes look lovely hanging on your bed. Your dogs are gorgeous!

Oooh Bella... those are so beautiful!... I would be dancing all around in those.. and your precious little pups are so adorable!... I was a ballerina as a little girl, then had a bad accident and cut my ankle to the bone... it eventually healed, but I had to give up my dream of being a ballerina... I still dance though... in my daydreams and my heart... I think those are a perfect birthday gift!... Happy Belated Birthday!... xoxo Julie Marie

I studied ballet from age 5 to age 15. I was en pointe for 6 of those years....and quit when my Mom got sick, and that same year I realized I was going to be short and buxom.....not wispy and willowy as a dancer must be.

I still have a few of my first pairs of toe shoes, not sure what happened to my larger ones. My first ones are so tiny my foot would never fit in them now.

Love your purchase, they look perfect in your beautiful sweet & girlie world.

One of my best gal pals love to collect vintage ballet slippers...yours are beautiful! She also collects those miniature ballerinas that danced in music boxes when we were children! Now those are very hard to find! I always enjoy your blog...

What sweet romantic dreams! Your bedroom is dreamy, no wonder your precious little pups love to snuggle in those puffy, soft bedclothes. Love your slippers and who could resist taking a little spin in their pink prettiness! xx

I have always wanted an old pair of ballet shoes, but can't seem to find them. It is so nice to see the doggies, I don't recal seeing them on a post for a while now.

Oh Bella they are lovely. You have made me so sorry that I parted with my dear daughters ballet shoes,15 pairs of them would you believe. I kept them for about 20yrs tucked away in her little kindy case. I asked her if she wanted them and she didn't.They stayed tucked away for so long until one day during a mad cleaning moment, I gave them away.:(
Your little doggies look so sweet especially the one tucked up in your adorable squishy quilt.xx

Those point balletshoes hanging on your bed look lovely and I understand you feel yourself a ballerina in your dreams but.....Iris, Randy and Daisy on your bed are so cute, I think they want to sleep there every night, Snarf often tries to go unnoticed to our bed at night. No fun, they take too much space I think. I enjoyed your post very much!

Such lovely shoes, Bella, full of so many memories. Whimsical gifts on birthdays are the best, I think. Your little dogs are so sweet and look so comfy. And I meant to say in my other reply that your new french doors look beautiful. I'm sure you'll be enjoying all that extra light.
