Forcing Spring on a Cold Day...

It's been COLD here...

not the good kinda cold with snow,
just the icy cold...

I don't know about you,
but for me,
cold without snow
is just blah,

like dessert without a cherry on top...

so I am forcing a little spring into my day....

I picked up some forced Hyacinths at the store...

it's cold so I needed the big German mug...

the bouquet of Roses and Lily of the Valley on the side
have spring written all over them...

a Limoges sugar bowl...

a bright and cheery hankie
 for a napkin...

I made Lemon Bars...

a dose of vitamin c can't hurt...

I picked up these Lacy edged metal pots
at Ikea...

they are watertight
and the perfect size to hide small round nursery pots...

I hope there is something
sweet on your plate today...

I'll be joining...
and

Thanks for joining me today!

Love your Ikea pots--what a perfect idea to force flowers in them. I have a little ugly green pot I have started paperwhites in--off to put it in my Ikea pot :) Now I want to make lemon bars too :)

Love those lace-edged pots! It is 31.4 degrees here and last night was 29 degrees. Brrr--cold, especially since I do not have any insulation under my house right now...long story.

Hi Bella! I always love to see the beautiful china you collect. You have such beautiful floral patterns.

The hyacinths must make your home smell wonderful! Isn't it good to be able to enjoy a few blooms in the winter?
It has been so cold here too Bella, and it makes it hard to even want go anywhere when it is this frigid.
Maybe we'll get a break soon?
hugs from here...

What a lovely vingnette, Bella, and a perfect oasis in the midst of winter. (And now you've inspired me want to bake some lemon bars to have with my tea...) I'm forcing some Paperwhites in the kitchen and I'm so looking forward to seeing and smelling their blooms on a cold day.

Hi Bella, your post is so beautiful today! I absolutely love the hyacinth bulbs and those wonderful lace pots. We have had just the opposite problem here in south Georgia. It has been unusually hot with temps in the 80's. I hope that we get a cold snap soon, and get our normal winter back. It is much more easier to cope with the long humid summers we have, when we get a nice brisk autumn and winter. I hope that you have a cozy day ahead, no matter how cold it outside your home is always a place of warmth! Delisa :)

Thank you for your visit and your comment. The family is recovering, and I hope to do some gardening this weekend.

I am so out of it that I missed this pretty post! You sure do compensate for yucky weather! The stretch before spring was sooo long last year. We're going to need LOTS of THIS!! Beautiful!
