La Conner, WA...

Over the weekend,
we decided we needed to get away,
for a long drive...

we headed North to La Conner,  WA

they are famous for their amazing Tulip Festival...

it was too early for that,
but the fields of Daffodils
had just begun to bloom...

Trumpeter Swans,
grazing in the empty fields...

flocks of Snow Geese...

it was a very grey day....

but the fields
were sunshine bright...

I am just as fond of all the amazing homes
in town as I am of the flower fields...

and here the colors never fail to thrill...

nor does the charm...

purple!!

and a life size Pink Pig,
Paper Mache??

then there are the grand old houses...

this one is everyones favorite,
I have seen in in several books
and magazines,
I have even seen a painting of it in an antique store...

I am always swept away by the fancy cresting,
and widows walks...

the romance,
of ladies climbing onto the widows walk,
their dresses whipping in the breeze,
awaiting their sea faring husbands return...

or maybe the romance,
of riding an aqua colored bicycle
on a spring day...

this shop has been noted as a return destination!
Ooh la la!

I can't resist sharing a photo
of the Tulip Festival
in full bloom...

I visit there a couple years ago
and here are links back to those posts...
and Here...

I hope your enjoying this first day of spring?

Today I am joining...

Happy Spring!!

What a treat! I'm glad you included the tulip shot. I can't imagine how beautiful it is to see a huge field of tulips or daffodils. But I'd like to! Love the old houses! Happy spring, Bella! xx

Such a beautiful place!!! Will you be going back to see the tulip fields later? I've always wanted to see the tulip fields (in Holland, the US is a bit too far from here ;-)). It must be such a beautiful show to watch. Hopefully one day....
The fields of daffodils must be amazing to see as well. Even on a grey day, they must look like sunshine.
Bye,
Marian

A beautiful post for the first day of Spring, Bella! That field of daffodils does make me smile! The swans and snow geese are beautiful. But it is the lovely Victorian houses that really caught my eye. Absolutely charming. Thank you for the sweet tour on a rainy day!

Hugs,

Karen

Wow Bella, those flower fields are absolutely gorgeous! I cannot keep tulip bulbs in my garden because the squirrels always dig them up so maybe I need to plant a few thousand and then I won't notice if they dig up a few here and there! *winks* The pictures of the houses are wonderful, I just adore Victorian houses, especially those with color. Thanks for sharing your drive with us. Gina

Here in the Pacific Northwest we are so blessed to have beautiful daffodils and tulips. The festival I always go to is in Molalla Oregon. The tulips are usually fully bloomed in mid April. Love that all pink field--gorgeous! All those old homes are so pretty too. :)

A nice outing; who could resist the beauty of so many daffodils or tulips together? The Victorian homes are nice and who knew you had a namesake shop?

How gorgeous! I haven't been to La Conner in years. It's such an adorable little town. I used to visit the Bunnies By The Bay in Anacortes too. Isn't that near there? I can't remember...it's been so long!

Very interesting post. Those houses are absolutely gorgeous. I love the colonial looking verandahs. And I see you also have bulb fields. This year we have a very long winter so even Narcisus are late. I suppose the "February Golds" will flower in April instead of February. Also for tulips we still have to wait another few weeks.

Oh what wonderful photos Bella! I am going to the tulip festival, but I have been tempted to see the daffodils as I've seen some beautiful photos recently of the farms. The old houses of course sweep me away. I adore looking at them! I hope your Easter was wonderful, the weather couldn't have been better!
