A Rainy Day along the Picket Fence...

I rarely take you upfront...

so I thought we'd spend a little time there...

and
I would share my picket fence flowers,
nothing is better
than the backdrop of a picket fence
to showcase flowers,
and it makes a nice prop
to hold up the lanky ones too...

rain soaked roses,
nodding heavily....

the Peonies...

a perfect example of lanky flowers
propped on the picket fence...

effortless
cottage perfection...

Valerian...

and nearly open Fairy Lilies...

Valerian and Verbascum....

the photo was naturally soft & faded,
I like the water colour feeling....

James Galway Roses,
ruffled perfection...

Wishing you Sunny Skies...

random bits...

I always seem to have so many photos
that never make it into posts...

so I thought I would share a handful today,
random bits...

truthfully to me it seems
most of the best times in life come from random moments,
the unplanned,
the little surprises that thrill...

I hope your week is off to a good start!

Thanks for stopping by....

Tree Peony...

 My little Tree Peony
blooms about a month before
the other peonies...

an opening act of sorts...

these photos are from last month...
I am catching up...
slowly
:-)

Tree Peonies
grow slowly...
 and can reach impressive heights
of around 6 feet tall...

all that gorgeousness,
right up in your face!

one of my favorite
things about my tree peony
is the center matches my lilacs so well,
and they bloom at the same time...

here is a photo of them paired together
from a year or so past
and the link to that post,
if you'd like to see more...

this year the Peonies
went solo...

 Well TGIF!

I Hope You have a Wonderful Weekend!

Thanks so much for stopping by...

The First Flush of Roses...

There is nothing more anticipated
in  my garden...

than the first flush of roses...

yes,
I know...
you are surprised...
:-)

It is a common happening,
that the first notable Rose is
Gertrude Jekyll...
and you have to love her for that,
and her delicious scent....

then the others start popping open...

this year Gertrude put on such an amazing show,
she was soon so tired,
she just laid her head on the table for a nap...

and,
I will admit
I joined her for a nap in the gazebo,
more than once
 :-)

Thanks for taking the time to smell the roses
with me today....

Bottle Trees....

While visiting California
a couple months ago...

I enjoyed
getting out to see
a few touristy curiosities....

I am always intrigued,
by the weird and wonderful...

the madness of an artists heart...

the Bottle Tree Ranch....

in Oro, Grande,  CA
on Historic Route 66...

the artist in residence...

had many a story
 to tell...

antique bottles...

the manganese in the old glass
turns purple
under the glaring sun....

the beginning of a new
obsession...

Thanks so much for coming along today....
