Looking for Rainbows...

The saying goes...
When it Rains
look for Rainbows...

so I have been looking...

we have been having quite a wet week here...

the garden is awake,
and so are the dandelions!

the Woody Hyacinth,
a plant straight out of a fairy land...

the Magnolia Tree
is a stunner...

just a little taller than me
when I planted it 17 years ago...

the Tulips in the front bed,
the hail got to them before I did...

the first Sweet Forget-Me-Not
begin to bloom...

endearing,
unforgettable

the leaves of the unfurling Ladies Mantle
hold giant beads of rain...

be still my
Bleeding Heart....

Stay Dry My Friends....

Shrinking Violets & Tea...

I love Spring...

it is my favorite season...
it is sweet
&
 full of promise...

Spring
shows that all things are possible...

so today
I celebrate it
and sip some tea...

tiny modest violets
in a creamer and strewn about..

I love Violets.

when I was a girl I remember
picking then at my grandmothers house
tiny bundles in my tiny hands...

later
I used to love those sets of bath salts
they were packaged in cubes
and bundled into a row
each a different scent...

my favorite cubes were the violet ones...

the shy violet,
her head nodding,
unassuming...

shrinking

my chintz cup
in the violet pattern..

 has no mate,
but is perfect as she is...

sweet bites
of blueberry loaf...

a simple tea,
mix matched dishes...
shy violets....

delicious,
unassuming,
so sweet.

Happiness is a Day at the Beach...

A day at the beach is
like no other...

I haven't been to the proper shore in a couple years,
here we have a lot of ocean waters near by...

the Puget sound...

but it lacks
openness,
vastness,
it is calm
it does not roar...

I really needed to roar...

 I want to be wild,
beautiful
and free...
just like the sea....

sea grass trails
line the hillsides and cliffs...

fly silly sea bird,
no dream can possess you,
no voice can blame you
for the sun on your wings
joni mitchell

a lone surfer
braved the choppy receding tide...

learning to surf this summer
 tops my personal bucket list....

frilling foam
lapping at my boots...

Jonathon stood alone...

contemplating

sand dollars are a common find
on Washington beaches...

although often
a sea bird has found them first...

“For her the ocean was more than a dream,
it was a place she needed to visit
to find herself.
And when she returned to the city,
you could see the sun in her eyes,
the wind in her hair,
and taste the infinite salt in her lips.”
jose chaves

Did you feel your toes in the sand?
wasn't it divine?
don't forget to dust off your toes before leaving your keyboard...

Baby Squirrels...

Last Week
in my garden post...

I shared a couple photos of the baby squirrel box
outside my kitchen window...

I thought I would share some more photos
of the weekend...

I think they are so adorable...

Saturday this happened...

and,
I wondered if mom knew
what was happening
when she wasn't around...

later that day,
when she came by the nest...

I learned she had not known

as she left
the babies watched...

then they started to follow...

I hoped this was going be a day of climbing lessons...

but,
no... mom promptly went back inside,
and began moving the babies to a safer place...

now the box is empty...
I am always so sad so see them go...

but she will be back in a month
or so to do it all again!

Have A Beautiful Day....

Early April in the Garden...

Ah...
Its early Spring
and the garden is popping into shape...

Come along,
I'll show you what is happening...

pretty patches
of blue Grape Hyacinths
dot the garden...

I imagine,
my little statue
is playing a sweet song of joy...

hyacinths...
perfume the garden...

the smell of Spring...

the Camellia in full bloom...

they had a hard year,
the unusual heavy deep snow
broke many branches...

still,
they are feeling pretty...

this is my mystery plant...

I bought a couple at a plant sales years ago,
they are starting to self propagate
around the garden...

flowers like a Candytuft,
leaves like a violet!

can anyone solve my mystery?

the Thundercloud Plum
 in bloom...

I wanted an impressive long shot of the trees...

but in typical Spring fashion
the wind kicked up...

the Peonies are emerging...

as are this years
 first batch of baby squirrels!

I saw the mother go into the squirrel box
outside my kitchen window
during the big snow day...

I thought she was looking for shelter,
but she had other plans!

this year there are four babies,
and this year she didn't move them
when they start to crawl around
as she usually does...

these little guys
made their first trip out of the nest box last night!
so cute!!!
I am going to be snapping lots of photos of their first days,
I'll share these next week...

It is also Daffodil Parade Weekend here,
they line up right in front of my house!
so I'll share photos of that next week too...

Have an Awesome Weekend!

Thank you for stopping by today...
