Hankies..
A common item of the past,
yet somehow lost and forgotten along the way.

I was lucky enough to find this big stack
last weekend at a garage sale....
Embroidered in happy colors,
with endearing sentiments.
My Grandmother always had a hankie at the ready to mop me up.
She spritzed hers with Charlie perfume
and tucked it into her "brazier"...
Simple and clean cotton hankies with quiet embroidery...
Frilly and frothy flocked hankies...
make me think of girls in their glamorous prom dresses.
Homemade with colorful crocheted trims...
Even men carried them,
heavier and more utilitarian.
Rhett Butler always had one at the ready for Scarlett's tears...
These are my favorites...
The cotton florals,
so soft, the colors gently muted.
and this one stand out...
With its deep intricate lace edging,
certainly it was used on a special day!
Today I am joining two parties!
