Do you know how you get a song
stuck in your head?
(click photos to enlarge)
I've had Roy crooning in my ear for days...
Dream baby got me dreamin' sweet dreams
the whole day through...
Dream baby got me dreamin' sweet dreams
night time too...
I love you and I'm dreaming of you
but that won't do...
Dream baby make me stop my dreamin',
you can make my dreams come true...
sweet dreams baby....
I picked up a couple vintagey nightgowns,
a a garage sale recently....
(not the real thing, but real pretty)
I have always loved the word nightgown,
to imply the formality of dressing for bed,
in a lovely gown...
more implications :-)
what better way to guarantee sweet dreams,
than with intoxicating sprigs of Lavender....
heavenly dreams...
a sprig tied to the headboard...
it's scent wafting down....
I am crazy for pin tucks,
and both the nightgowns have them,
along with my duvet cover...
the formality of the pin-tucks
and the casualness on the rumpled cotton...
a perfect summery contradiction...
a bit of true vintage embroidery,
is the cherry on top....
wishing you sweet summery dreams...
Today I am joining...
and
Thanks for stopping by...

Hi Bella,
Your nightgowns look really pretty. I brought one with me from Belgium last year. I always enjoy wearing it. My daughters always laugh when they see me in it. Apparently I look like I stepped out of one of Jane Austen's books :-)!
Love your bedroom. It looks very romantic.
Happy day,
Madelief x
Hi
Beautiful blog!

Hello Bella,
I've had a song stuck in my mind - Come Home Snoopy! I made a banner for a baby shower we're throwing for my brother's first child!
So Excited! Lovely, lovely nightgowns! Absolutely adore lavender!
Perfect for a lovely sleep!
Hope you have a great day,
Kathy
Hi Bella,
Funny you should mention a song getting stuck in your head. Last night I woke up with Lady MaDonna by the Beatles in my head. Don't ask me why and then this morning, hubby was singing it! Crazy, huh? Love the vintage nightgown! I adore tucks and smocking; always have! A lovely post and thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Sandi
Very pretty nightgown!! My mother always wore pretty gowns to bed! Me...shorts and a T shirt! I would not look appropriate in that beautiful bed!! ;-D

You gave me a fantastic idea! One of my best friends is coming to stay over -- I am going out right now to pick some lavender for her bed! I always get such inspiration from your blog!
Those nightgowns are very pretty. And I love the embroidery on the pillowcase. I see that your lavender is blooming now. How nice.
Good day, Bella...
The vintage nightgowns are beautiful...I wouldn't mind a blouse like that. And I absolutely love embroidered linens and such. Yours are very pretty. Tomorrow I join Handmade Thursday, and I will be showing two embroidered kitchen towels I did some years ago.
The lavender is exquisite. You have such a blessed garden to choose such delights from.
Blessings,
Marianne
Ever so pretty! I love those nightgowns and so well presented.

A beautiful post, Bella. I love pintucking too...it is just so sweet and innocent to me. I especially love it in little girls' frocks.
And you know that I love any lavender post! xo Diana
What a pretty post. I love the old fashioned night gowns and the pretty bed. And lavender! I have a small pouch of lavender buds which hang on the bedpost that I sometimes squeeze just before I go to sleep to release that wonderful scent. Sweet dreams. Pamela
Gorgeous Bella! I have a beautiful white nightgown...2 in fact. I love wearing them - pintucks, white cotton, some white embroidery....
Thanks for sharing this beauty.

Hi Bella
I have several white cotton nightgowns, all lace and embroidered lavender, they're so comfy in the summer. I have had good intentions of making a lavender linen spray and should do it to use when ironing pillowcases. The scent of the lavender on your headboard would be so soothing at night.

Your flowers below in the next post are just lovely and yes ...this would be such a lovely bed after a nice bath!
Very pretty, Bella! I adore the smell the lavender. Gonna have to try your cute idea of hanging it from the headboard.

Beautiful gowns Bella, and the lavender is so romantic. As for Roy Orbison, I've been a big fan for many years. I've had a song rolling around in my head for two weeks now and am ready to trade it in for something new. It's a Lovers Question...by Clyde McPhatter...I know, it really ages me doesn't it? I have no idea where it came from, but I've been humming and singing it for way too long.

I saw the title of your post at Savvy Southern and couldn't wait to visit you! I love lavender and beautiful things like your 'new' nightgowns! I have a pretty lavender filled pillow on my bed but I would love to get a sprig of lavender, too! Nice ideas...lovely blog! ♥
