Simple Spring Bouquet..

On Valentines day my sweetie and I
usually go to garden nursery's
and look for new rose bushes...

This year I was lucky and found tulip bulbs,
on clearance from last fall...

They were wintered well
so I scooped them up...

With a bit of spring in the airtoday
I finally planted them,
 in the front porch bed...

and while I was at it...

I picked a simple spring bouquet
for my kitchen window...

I love to keep flowers on my kitchen windowsill
it makes doing the dishes much more pleasurable :-)
The bouquets are never fancy..

Just little flowers
who are the causalities of pruning or thinning..

but still deserve to be adored...

I said we had a bit of spring today...

You can see my old rusty thermometer
peaked out at over 50 degrees...

Ha...
Half of you wish it was 50 degrees at your house today,
I saw the other half of you shiver :-))

The promise of spring lies in the bud...

My sweet blogging friend Marianne
wrote me and asked to borrow a photo from my blog.
She used it today
in her lovely poem of spring..
perfectly named
SWEET SPRING

Spring Cloches...

In the spring
all the magic in the world begins again...
a rebirth...

a time of hope...

I don't know of a much better example of hope
than a nest,

made of nothing but
bits of moss and twigs,

holding the future precariously
in the boughs of a tree...

A stack of tiny teacups
with an araucana chicken egg teetering on the top...

certainly speaks of hope
and balance...

feeling impatient for spring...
I shared this pie bird cloche a couple weeks ago,

Bellevue Botanical Garden in Spring...

Bellevue Botanical Gardens
is one of my favorite places to visit in the summer..

But.. I had never been in the spring.

Since we are enjoying a bit of spring in the air
I drove up yesterday...

Expecting to see colorful bulb displays...
but was excited to instead see
a giant variety of Hellebore in bloom...

(click photos to enlarge)

They are redesigning their flower beds
so the plants are just divided and
most were not labeled..

So most of the names are not available to share...

the spidery stamen...

Green flowers are something I am just loving
 the last couple years
and really want to add to my garden...

These were marked
"Pink Frost" ...

I loved the more upright cupped flower...

Witch Hazel in full bloom...

A close up
of the Witch Hazel's tiny flowers...

a wee cyclamen...

I am guessing this is a variegated Weigela,
the colors so soft....

They have a big Camellia Bush in the front,
just coming into full bloom...
quite a sight to see...

Welcome Spring!!!

I will be joining the fun at...
