Rainy Days and Roses...

Rainy Days and Roses
 are both abundant lately...

so I snapped a few photos
around the patio
 between showers...

I have a pair of big pots in a sunny location
on the patio...

no plant was ever happy there...

last year,
on a whim I bought a pair of roses
on clearance to try...

the pretty ruffled
Aloha Roses have thrived...

Neptune Rose in her lavender glory...

and her pinker bud beginning...

over the winter we removed several trees...

the Cecile Brunner Roses,
are so happy to have sunnier skies....

the first flush is withering,
too soon...

but the abundant new growth
 is peppered with fresh buds...

the Eden Roses are just beginning
to put on the first show...

Pretty as they are,
the first flush here in the rainy Northwest
tends to be brown along the edges...

new buds waiting on the sun...

the first Scepter'd Isle bloom
stands alone...

perfect...

today I am joining...

Happy Saturday!

Old Dresser Planter...

I love unusual,
repurposed
 planters...

and have seen some wonderful
dressers turned into planters...

I had been wanting one to call my own...

when I found this beauty
:-)

for free...

I lined her drawers
with heavy duty garbage bags...

this will keep her glued joints
from breaking down...

and keep me from watering so much...

I nailed a couple drawers closed,
extra crooked...
for extra character...

planted her
and waited for her to fill in a bit...

she was looking pretty today...

so I thought
 it was time to share...

the small spaces
in the cracked open drawers...

are perfect for tucking little frilly plants,
that are easily lost in a bigger pot...

having a tabletop for my rusty urns
is also fun....

Happy Planting :-)

Today I am joining...

Thanks for stopping by today...

It's Happening so Fast...

We have been having a much warmer
and much dryer spring
than usual...

the garden is moving
much faster than me...

I can hardly keep up!

wanna take a stroll
on a sunny day?
(Yep,  another sunny day,  I could get use to this!)

a view from above...

the Lilacs are in full bloom...

you can just see the  first blooms
on the Crab Apple in the foreground..

the Tulips are fading...

the Woody Hyacinths
are filling in...

tender Deutzia blooms...

the FIRST ROSE!

Therese Bugnet unfurled today,
beating out my old reliable English Lady
Gertrude Jekyll by a few days...

she is but a tiny thing,
but it is wonderful to inhale her perfume...

Cosmo has been busy exploring the overgrown bog...

Iris has earned the nickname Mouse,
because her ears are usually BOTH inside out...

Daisy has been loving watching the fish...
or maybe her own reflection?

(Iris,  Randy,  Daisy, Berry)

most of all
they love sunbathing...

I haven't even put the nice covers
 on the ugly cushions yet...

the Akebia is dangling and twining
over the bench swing...

it's subtle flowers in bloom...

It's going to fast!
I want to bottle it up :-)

Today I am joining...

Thanks for strolling with me today...
