Breakfast with My Valentine...

Isn't Valentines Day
the perfect mid-winter break?

a day to warm your heart,
and shake off the winters chill...

since Valentines Day this year
is mid-week..

and my Valentine will be working....

I decided to have a simple breakfast in bed...

time to lay around
 and enjoy pretty things...

time with each other...

because aren't most
of the best memories of your life
  made in simple times...

simple bread...

simple fruit...

well,
of course roses...

wishing you quiet moments on Valentines day
with the one you love...

 I am joining...

Thanks for stopping by....

Popping Open...

We had a mild winter...

to say we had a dusting of snow
would be stretching the truth a little...

the crocus are up,
and a little sun coaxed them into opening up...

there is a lot of garden clean up to do,
I am thrilled to be out poking around again...

an easy winter means
a lot of plants never really died back...

my dresser planter in a protected area
still had a few blooms...

but when the grocery stores
start having spring annuals and potted bulbs for sale
it's hard not to bring a flat or two home...

I plumped my drawers...

feeling very cheery!

happy little sunny faces
smiling at you...

today I am joining,
and

Thanks for stopping by...

Tea in The Sitting Room...

I thought I'd share tea with you
in my sitting room today...

give you a peek at the new sofas...

the room is a work in progress,
you know how it is,
you change one thing
then you need to fix something else,
and so on....

 my little old man Berry
was sure all the pillow plumping was for him,
and settled in for a nap...

he is an old dog and sound sleeper,
he never moved an inch :-)

the new sofas are both from IKEA,
the long one is the Ektorp Sofa
and the one on the window wall is the Ektrop Hide-A-Bed

I have been using vintage crochet edged sheets
to cover the seat of the sofas,
cause with six dogs,
this is easier than changing the slipcovers...

I am covering the sofas arms
with vintage crochet edges pillow cases...

I also plan to use a lot of throws
and quilts to cover in the muddier season,
yes,  in Seattle that is most of the year...

on to the tea...

 a perky cup...

 bite sized sugar cookies
sprinkled with powdered sugar...

 bottoms up...

 a cute book of poems...

 to ponder...

It's nice to take some time out,
for a bit of sweetness...

 Today I am joining...
and

Thanks for sipping with me today...
