Baskets Full of Roses...

 

the summery days of roses

have arrived...

 



 

while the rain still has garage sales

stuck in a spring stall...

 

this sweet ceramic basket,

was last weeks only find...

 

for a dollar

a cheap thrill...

 

 

gathering the first basket full

of garden roses...

 

a big thrill...

 

 

on the other side of the basket,

my Mr's favorite cheap summer thrill...

 

the first Rhubarb,

it's pie time!

 



 

the first rose bouquet of the year,

PRICELESS...

 



 

I hope something priceless,

is in store for you this weekend...

 

I am off to bake a pie,

Mmmm...

It's about time

 I take you on a garden tour!

 

It's been a month of weather extremes,

and so much has come and already gone...

 

we have a lot of catching up to do...

 

 

 

Clematis up on the gazebo roof,

almost hiding the swallow nesting box...

 

I am still hoping

 a sweet couple will build a nest this year...

 

 

the garden bursting with spring blooms...

 

 

we had a hot spell

right as the Allium bloomed...

 

they came and went so fast...

 



 

as did the Lilacs...

 

Blue Bells ringing in the spring......

 

a view down a foot path...

 

 

the same view a moment sooner...

 

when inquiring dogs

 wanted to know what was so interesting

 that I was sitting on the ground...

 

 Valerian and the first of the Roses...

Mushroom Hunting...

It is inevitable

that sometime during the long wet winters

in Washington,

a case of cabin fever typically sets in...

 

in this time a "bucket list"

of things "I want to do this summer"  is usually made...

 

 

this years list

took me to the higher elevations of Central Washington

last weekend...

 

 

hunting for Morel Mushrooms...

 

it's like an Easter Egg Hunt for adults :-)

 



on the first day we picked twenty eight...

 

as newbies,

this was enough to excite us,

and make us want to go back for more...

 

 

 

and really,

mushrooms or not,

the forest is always a good place to spend a day...

these pretty purple flowers

dotted the forest floor...

 



I have learned these flowers are actually Wild Orchids...
