A Lazy August Garden Stroll...

Here we are

 in the hot and lazy days of summer,

how did August get here so fast?

 

Wanna join me in my garden?

 

 

stroll along on a summer day...

 

 

the Lilies,

their powerful heady fragrance,

fills the air...

 

 

Rose of Sharon,

basking in the sun...

 

 

Anemones popping open,

with fading Valerian below...

 

 

the Roses...

 

 

a fluffy and a bit tattered

spray of  Mortimer Sackler...

 

 

Eden soaking up the morning sun...

 

 

Sceptered Isle...

 

 

Bee Balm,

much too red for my garden...

 

the Bee Balm is a

Hummingbird paradise...

 

I'm going to have to look

for a lighter variety...

 



Toadflax...

 



 

seed pods everywhere,

pretty in their own right,

summer is passing too soon...

 



 

we have started some painting projects,

last week the front rails,

next the columns,

the porch floor...

 

so much to squeeze in...

 

 

so many lazy days ahead...

A Few Good Finds...

We have been enjoying non-stop sunny days,

here in the Northwest...

 

 

along with the rain drying up,

so have the garage sales,

so it seems...

 

everyone must be out soaking up

the sunshine...

 

these are my few good finds,

from the last two Fridays...

 

a pretty pearl bracelet,

I thought it would make an

 oh so pretty

napkin ring...

 

vintage jewelry

is becoming harder and harder to find

at garage sales...

 



I picked up a yard of this

yummy hand crochet lace...

 

irresistible...

 



 

this was my favorite new find...

 

a German Sentiment Mug...

 



 

"remember me"

 

paired with  Mary Rose,

memorable for her amazing scent...

 



 

I love this pair of fluted silver vases,

filled with Memorial Day rose buds

and Snap Dragons...

 

the warm toned tarnish perfect for fall,

but for now,

I'll happily stash them away,

fall can wait...

 

for just a dollar,

I picked up this tone on tone

ruffled slipcover,

that fits my wicker ottoman perfectly...

 

 

and,  well...

 when the garage sales haven't been that good to you,

there is Etsy...

 

I couldn't resist this pink crown pin...

 



 

I thought it too

would make a cute napkin ring...

 

I haven't posted a tablescape in a long time...

I must have the need to get out the china

and dress up the table a bit...

hmmm...

On the Way to the Market...

 

I am a back roads kinda girl,

I love the slow pace of a  windy country road...

 

 

my trips to the grocery store

are spent on just such a road..



 

this little old abandoned farmhouse

is on my route,

 I always slow to take note of it...

 

as do lots of others,

often people are taking photos...

 

 

a few weeks ago,

as I drove by I saw the roses....

 

a massive climbing rose,

at the driveways edge...

 

a grand welcome,

surely once enjoyed by the homeowners...

 

 

although it has no care,

thriving...

 

spectacular...

 

I always hope someone will take on the old house,

love it,

restore it...

 

I have seen much worse houses,

made back into homes...

 

there is just so much romance in old houses

and that tree is begging for a swing :-)
