The Charmers...

I heard from my friend David
this week..

he is a charmer...

It may be silly,
but seeing Lady Bella in writing,
just makes me feel like I should
find a lace fan to flutter...

the new David Austin Rose Catalog
is one of the things that I look forward to after Christmas,

just when I need a winter boost...

my husband saw the catalog on my desk...

and said
"We need to sit down and make an order"

now that is charming,
my man knows my heart so well...

for now,
I am still enjoying my seven dollar grocery store roses...

filling them in with Carnations...

tucking them into china dishes,
and retucking them...

they are a
feast for the eyes,
but a famine for the nose...

I have been enjoying
these Moon Glow Carnations
for a couple weeks...

they just keep fading into softer shades,
lovely...

I hope you have found a mid winter diversion too,
stay cozy my friends...

My Menagerie...

The quiet days of winter...

days spent curled up
with magazines...

 in this pretty picture
from Tea Time Magazine...

the milk-glass
just looked so fresh and springy
to me on a dreary day...

it started a mild obsession...

I made a trip to a local charity shop
 a few days later
 and found this pretty piece...

I am smitten
with my new bright white vase,
it's so cheerful...

I couldn't resist bringing these sweet guys home...

Valentines Day is coming
and I know they will take center stage...

for now
they are tucked into my china cabinet...

I have a thing for mirrors with candles,
so romantic...

so I picked this one up,
it will fit right into a little nook
 in my sitting room...

I'll share it's make-over soon...

a perfect shopping day
 ends with Roses...

I found these for a steal!
seven dollars a dozen...

I used some dried Hydrangea
for my
 glass menagerie knock-off...

I do think for a true menagerie,
I will need at least a few more pieces :-)

After Christmas....

The days after Christmas
always seem to move so slowly...

life becomes much more simple,
I feel quiet and content...

Christmas Roses hung to dry
 on the kitchen chandelier...

simple,
perfection...

I bought these blooms
the same time as the roses,
they are still holding up well...

they are
 Moon Glow Carnations,
 in an amazing color...

quilts on laundry day,
it's hard not to just climb under them
while they are still warm from the drier...

the dogs agree...

a candle seems to always to burning...

a bright point of light
on a gloomy day...

right after Christmas...

I kept out only clear glass
and Mercury Glass,
enjoying the stark wintry feel...

today, I stared tucking in dry blooms,
from last years garden...

craving a pop of color...

a dried Lavender Peony,
faded...

my Pink Peonies...

dried vivid...

I was surprised last week
to see these bulbs
already popping up in my Dresser Planter...

but, more surprises today
to find my early Crocus are poking
their heads out from beneath their blanket of leaves...

so early,

the Camellia
dripping wet and loaded with maturing buds...

the small stirring of the garden,
keep my heart happy...

nothing in the garden
will move fast,
we have yet to have snow...
