Calico, California...

 On my trip to California,
my brother took me to the small town of Calico...

Calico,
is a world completely different from my own...

a wide open space
of big skies...

void of trees
the contour of the land speaks for itself...

the drama!

Calico has a small population,
because well,
 it is a ghost town...

actually,
maybe the population is high,
just not with the living...
:-)

you can tell
from my series of photos,
my photography skills
do not include,
blaring sun...

it was a challenge!

a bit of gingerbread...

women of the old west
must have had is so hard...

a mans world.

there was nothing feminine about Calico,
except this delightful line
of frilly undergarments
blowing in the breeze...

this house made of bottles
was a favorite among the tourists...

who were mostly French?

the very best part of Calico?

time spent with my brother James!
He is a wonderful photographer
and we had a lot of fun looking for the good shots!

Thanks James!!

Thank you all for stopping by,

The Beautiful Spring...

In the early Spring
I went on a long over due vacation
to California...

I grew up in Los Angeles,
and went back to visit family,
see my childhood homes
and reconnect with old friends...

I returned home the end of March
to a garden in bloom...

here are a handful of photos...

The beautiful spring came;
and when Nature resumes her loveliness,
the human soul is apt to revive also.

the Kwanzan Cherry
in its full pink glory...

Bluebells twirling...

bluebells always remind me
of happy girls
twirling their skirts...

Tulips
and half used wishes...

Money Plants,
newly minted...

a completely out of focus shot,
but the colors and softness
made me happy...

so this we will call
my impressionistic period....

Peonies shooting up,
over taking fading tulips...

small eager
garden friends...

Sensation Lilac...

Miss Kim Lilac...

Did I mention?

The Caged Flower....

my Snowdrops
have come
and are long gone..

actually my Roses
have begun to unfurl...

but,  I have a big handful
of posts
 I haven't shared yet...

So I will be doing lots
of catching up....

the Snowdrops being the first
flower of the season...

you just want to hold
them tightly...

cage them in
to keep...

but, alas...
does a caged flower sing?
and if so
is it as sweetly?

I found this lovely little poem on...

Snowdrops peeping through the grass
Heads bowed in silent prayer
Giving thanks for warm sunshine
While new born lambs skip without a care
Daffodils trumpet their joy
While bees on nectar sip
Spring is in the air at last
Winter has lost its grip

I am so Grateful You stopped by....
