Happy May Day!

I have always loved
May Day...

as girls,
my girlfriends and I loved to sneak around the neighborhood
early in the morning,
dangling baskets
from the doorknobs of our favorite neighbors...

the baskets those days
were made from plastic strawberry baskets
with ribbons woven through the slits...

now it's fun to make something
more eleborate...

something,
 I made to hang
on YOUR virtual doorknob...

my dear sweet blogging neighbors...

to wish each of you a
Happy May Day...

April Showers on Flowers...

I ALMOST made it all the way through April
without photos of wet flowers..

we have been having a really nice spring,
so today when it rained I knew
 I better take
some pics while I could...

cause they are so pretty wet...

come on,
we'll go see...

no umbrella necessary...

the blue bells,
of the Woody Hyacinth

the very first of the Lilacs...
Mmmmm

and the first Jacob's Ladder,
this warm  dry drier spring
is putting the garden on fast forward...

rain droplets all lined up...

scattered...

impossibly puddling...

big juicy blooms
on the Tree Peony...

she is three this year
and this looks like it will be her first good show...

tiny buds on Roses...
EXCITEMENT!

a fading Tulip,
filled with water....

a bath for the fairies..

the Bridal Spirea came and went so fast...

drinking in the beauty...

It's Earth Day...

Happy Earth Day!

It is a BEAUTIFUL DAY here,
I hope the sun is shining softly on you too...

I spent this morning planting the new roses...

then decided to bask in the day...

I set up the wicker sofa
under the Cherry tree...

right next to the fragrant Viburnum...

look BLUE SKIES!

the sun really does shine in Seattle,
sometimes...

an old china tea cup,
wisps of flowers...

the Rhubarb is ready
and last night I made
the first pie...

took the time to talk to friends
I haven't seen in a while...

(the Victorian Garden Catalog)

I brought along this old garden book
for planning inspiration...

why don't they make wire baskets
 this amazing anymore?

the pie
and the dappled sunlight
make me LAZY...

good thing I brought my pillow :-)

today I am joining...
and

Hug a tree for Earth Day :-)
(go on no one is looking )
