One Foot in Spring....

The seasons here change very slowly...

the signs of spring are everywhere,
yet winter is still holding on tight...

I added  Pussy Willow branches
to my tablescape today...

one foot in spring...

yet a hearty soup
 is whats on the menu...

the other foot in winter...

this starter set
of Black Transferware
was an after Christmas purchase...

four wide bowls,
a single plate,
and a sugar bowl or maybe a biscuit jar,
this was debated at the cute shop where I bought them...

my love for the rosy pattern,
non-debatable...

when I set the table,
I had only planned for White Roses
and Pussy Willow...

but then,
 I added the Pink Roses,
something warm,
on this very grey day...

I certainly don't shy away
from pieces doing double duty...

but, do question it's original purpose,
a tad big for sugar,
a tad small for biscuits...

(I will choose biscuits today)

wishing you a cozy night...

tonight I am joining...
and

Thanks for stopping by...

Dropping By...

I have been busy all week,

doing springy things,
a little spring cleaning,
a little gardening,
a little finishing up of winter projects...

just all those small things
that when they pile up
keep you so busy...

I thought it was about time
I dropped by...

a quick post
to share my Snowdrops...

the weather has turned nasty,
so I filled my soup tureen with them...

straight from the garden
moss and all...

so garden fresh,
a little worm
crawled out while I took pics:-)

Nor will I then thy modest grace forget,
Chaste Snow-drop,
venturous harbinger of Spring,
And pensive monitor of fleeting years!

William Wordsworth
 To a Snow-Drop

you know spring is but a month away!!

over the weekend,
Mike and I took a mini trip to Eastern Washington...

the terrain is entirely different
on the other side of the Cascades...

we had been wanting to see wild Big Horn Sheep...
(do you see them on the hillside?)

during the winter they bring in hay
to feeding stations...

the Elk horn in on the free hay,
there must have been eight hundred of them...

I hope you are having a
 LOVELY DAY...

today I will be joining...
and

Thanks for (snow)dropping by....

Breakfast with My Valentine...

Isn't Valentines Day
the perfect mid-winter break?

a day to warm your heart,
and shake off the winters chill...

since Valentines Day this year
is mid-week..

and my Valentine will be working....

I decided to have a simple breakfast in bed...

time to lay around
 and enjoy pretty things...

time with each other...

because aren't most
of the best memories of your life
  made in simple times...

simple bread...

simple fruit...

well,
of course roses...

wishing you quiet moments on Valentines day
with the one you love...

 I am joining...

Thanks for stopping by....
