Autumn's colour is blazing
in all it's glory...
(click photos to enlarge)
This small Stewartia tree
is the only really colourful fall tree in the garden..
I tend to be lured in more by the flowers
on the spring blooming trees,
this leaves the garden a little unbalanced seasonally...
But, I am a little seasonally imbalanced myself ....
Spring is a time for motivation and flowers,
fall is more for nesting...
So, a pretty drive
and a truck full of trimmed branches
from the woods
Fills the garden with blazing colours...
(female Anna's Hummingbird)
I filled the hanging planters on the patio
with bits of branches....
Brought out the little hummingbird feeders
for my hummers that will stay for the winter...
The roses are giving their last nod
of the year...
Do you remember
my wire dress form?
Today she wore her hat and dress
but needed a lacy shawl to keep warm...
Tall branches were tucked into pots
all around the patio...
I replaced the birdhouse in on my chair planter
with a pretty white Pumpkin
the Lantana gives it a big pop!
I have wanted
one of these cane picking baskets forever...
I found one too late for picking
flowers or veggies,
But it looks pretty loaded with
tree fresh Apples...
Pumpkins fresh from the garden
tucked into nooks and crannies...
My vignette overview...
Today I am joining

and
A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday
Thanks for visiting:-)

Dearest Bella,
Are you serious about your hummingbirds staying for the winter? We feed them during spring and summer but then they fly to the Caribbean... So I'm just wondering if they would stay in your cold region for the winter.
Your Stewartia tree is gorgeous now, as it is in the spring when it blooms.
We have kind of selected trees for fall color just to balance the seasons a little bit but you can't win from the spring!
With the fresh cut branches you did create a very nice fall setting though.
Enjoy the remainder of October and you are so right about this season being for 'nesting'!
Sunny greetings from Georgia,

Okay-You get at least one extra point for catching that hummingbird in motion! What a beautiful post (as always). I love your little cane/basket...I have heard them mentioned but never saw one before. It suits you perfectly....and..I love the scaremiss..perfect! Have a wonderful day- Diana
oh so charming! I could sit on your porch for a good while! Love that beautiful country dress on the dress form. It is so unexpected on your porch which makes it so special!
Love that Stewartia tree... what a beautiful color! We have a few maple trees that have the same color in the fall, but they haven't changed for us here in Central Cali yet. Love all the fall touches you've added to your garden... lovely!

Hello! Love your fall touches! I have been wanting one of those cane picking baskets forever too! Since I saw a lovely one in an old Martha Stewart magazine!
Hope you're having a terrific day,
Kathy
What a beauitful garden Bella. Love all your pics...I especially love your chair planter...Yours is the second one I see this month...A few weeks back my family and I took a trip to a pumpkin patch...They were having some sort of craft fair and there were many vendors there. One of them was selling chair planters just like yours...I fell in love with them and had to have one. Well, my sweet hubby was quick to point out that we were there to pick up only pupmpkins, plus the chair wouldn't have fit in our little car :-( Well on our drive back I came up with the idea of making my own...with the help of my hubby ofcourse...I had an old chair I could use and chicken wire. Well, I'm happy to say that it's done...Yay! However, it still needs the plants. Working on that next. Hopefully soon I'll be able to share my chair with you all. Anyways, thanks for sharing your beautiful garden with us. Have a wonderful autumn day.
Hugs and Kisses,
♥Ana
Hi Bella,
Everything is still so pretty and you collected some nice Fall foliage for your garden.
I bought a Stewardia tree for our garden and it died the first winter here-I guess you win some and you lose some!
So our little hummers are enjoying your garden now- that is nice to know but don't forget to send them back come spring!
I love your garden lady too and the chair as well.
Carolyn

Your autumn vignette is just lovely Bella. I too recall the picking basket in a Martha Stewart magazine, she used them often.
You captured a good photo of the hummingbird.

Love your autumn vignette. The fall colors are so pretty. Thanks for sharing.
Definitively autumnal, Bella. A lovely post.
I love so much autumnal roses because they have those tiny spots and are a little bit faded on the edge of their petals.

Hummingbird image is fantastic!

I love your Outdoor Wednesday photos. Beautiful vignette.
Hello Bella! How lovely decorated your yard is. For mine, I only got one pumpkin so far. Wonderful photos. Thank you for sharing your ideas ;-)
Hi Bella, now take a look after your beautiful blog, I began to reflect upon the beauty of life and how we as women we touch the soul: through our environment, our environment, the decor, seasons of the year, incompressible detail perhaps for many, especially the men. My son asks me why decorating, to enjoy when we put up the dishes in the cupboard and only ended up thank your beautiful photos along with your comments. Admire and think calmly and enjoy decorating and filling our lives with the little details are actions that only we can understand. Beautiful Blessings, Rose Marie
First time visit to your blog...I really enjoyed looking around. I love your wire dress form, it's very sweet. We don't celebrate Halloween too much here in Australia, but I love those white pumpkins!
