Onto each blog,
a little darkness must fall....
Happy Halloween
my friends...
won't you join me for a little walk?
Here we are again
at the edge of the same forest
I shared with you in this post...
Lets look around this tiny cemetery...
sunspots appear mysteriously
in several photos,
maybe,
just maybe
the dead are saying hello...
the lovely sad inscriptions
nearly break my heart...
symbolic etchings
faded with age...
the graves of the wealthy...
and,
the handcrafted tombstones of the poor...
this one carved of wood...
to me
these mean more,
lovingly crafted...
stone with a tin topper...
so sad in the simplicity...
we are in the cemetery in Carbanado, WA...
a coal mining town,
that as all coal mining towns did saw a lot of tragedy...
12-9-1899
31 killed in an explosion...
the sorrow of a tiny isolated town
after such a tragedy
must be stifling...
if you would like to read more about the little towns history
the miners graves
line up along the back row of the cemetery...
raw coal,
on the ground...
Happy Halloween...
