A Tiny Magic Forest...

Christmas for me is a time to play

a time to build glittery dreams...

A time when a small shelf

of tiny demitasse teacups

can be turned into a magical forest...

Where bottle brush trees sprout from teacups

adorned in glittering snow....

Birds perch in nests built of gossamer threads...

A few treasured vintage pink Christmas balls

with their time worn scars

add just the right amount of charm....

Where the snow flakes dancing on the walls

are the shadows of crocheted lace

dripping from the edges on the small shelf...

A magical place

where the roses are porcelain

and last through all the seasons :-)

The Foyer Tree...

I finished my tree in the foyer today...

The photos are a bit dark

because it was dark before I finished :-))

 I'll try to sneak a few brighter photos in

during the next few weeks...

It's probably no surprise

that my main tree

(yes there are several small trees to come!)

is garden themed....

Mike and I have been collecting birds for the tree since

our first Christmas together....

and where there are birds

there should be nests...

I have always had flowers on my trees

( I am sure no one is shocked there!)

A lone white dove graces the top...

Decorating was rough on the flock

which dried as a delicate powder.

So I touched up the tips after I decorated.

I like the look of the over spray on the decorations...

The twinkle of "glass" ice cycles and snowflakes

delights me ...

Flocking and Glittering...

For the past few years

I find my Christmas decorating

leaning away from too much color...

I like the feel of white and silver

the cold look of a winter wonderland...

I have been wanting a white tree,

but.... I love the way the tree I have

 fills the space in the foyer...

So I decided to play with flocking it this year...

While the flock was wet

I had to try glittering it...

It sunk right into the flock and stuck!!

I love the sparkle it adds!!

It wasn't a budget buster at all

(like a new tree would have been)

three cans of flock (ten dollars)

did my nine foot tree

and I used a bunch of cheap glitter I had...

This is not a project (or tree)

for the faint of heart!

It is messy!

I put it all together with a big tarp under the tree

The flock had to go on in layers

because it drys slowly,

and deflates a bit as it drys...

I'll leave the tree to dry over night and decorate tomorrow...
