A fall drive

is a tradition for us...

 

 

a crisp day,

snuggled in the car,

oohing and awing over the brilliant colors...

 



 

a favorite destination is

Roslyn, WA

 

it sits along HWY 90

nestled between the mountain passes...

 

a sleepy little town of only 900...

 



the rural character

was featured in the tv show

Northern Exposure...

 



the movie

The Runner Stumbles

was also filmed here,

and featured the

Immaculate Conception Church...

 



charm abounds...

 



 

as we wandered home,

we took a little hike...

 



 

and gathered pine cones,

because I am obsessed with the bleached pine cones

 I have seen on Pinterest...

 

is it too early to think about Christmas?

October Garden...

October,

mid-October...

yes, it really is mid October,

how did we get here so soon?

 

the bite of Autumn is in the air...

 

sunny days,

and icy rooftops in the morning...

 

I thought we'd peek into the garden,

before a hard frost hits...

 

I am still enjoying a few

Treasured Roses...

 



 

dewy

 in the morning sun...

 



a few Perfect Blooms...

 



 

vigorously,

trying their very best...

 

but,

 they are

Tattered...

 



 

the spiders

are taking over the garden...

 

weaving

their own brand of lace...

 

Daisy

or as she is lovingly now called

Princess Daisy...

 

has claimed her throne,

a sunny spot on the back of the sofa...

Rainy Days and Mondays...

When a rainy day

and a Monday overlap...

 

you know plans for the day

won't be met...

 

you must give in...

 

slow down,

and listen to the rain

pounding on the roof...

 

build a snug corner...

 



 

for window watching,

for daydreaming...

 

notice,

the grace of rain heavy flowers,

drinking it all in...

 

 

notice the leaves

changing color...

 

because only yesterday

 they still seemed green...

 



collect a few things for your

cozy nest...

 

no books,

or other interferences...

 

just the world passing

outside the window...

 

slowly...

 



 

hot cookies are

a rainy day's

very best friend...

 



a gathering of fall floral...

 

a Casper Pumpkin,

Pee Gee Hydrangea sprigs,

Bonica Roses,

and her hips too...

 



 

a mix match cup and saucer,

just casual...

 

chosen because

 the deep ribs of the cup

looked like the ones on the pumpkin...

I should go pour the tea,
