Electric Candlelight...

So I am always talking about garage sales,
the dirty secret is...
I buy things with good intentions of fixing them up,
but.. they often pile up on my desk
(as you'll see in picture two).

So this is my after photo,

My shabbified lamp :-)

It started like this...

I procastinated working on it because,

I didn't want to know how to rewire it,

and this bright yellow cord is horrible!

So first I layered and scuffed paint to my hearts desire..

Then I created wax drops on the candlestick,

using a glue gun.

Sorry I forgot to photograph this.

did a tutorial on this 

It worked great & it was really fun

I wanted to make the cord look like an old fabric cord..

so I ripped skinny strips of muslin..

and tea dyed them.

Then I wrapped the muslin around the cord..

tacking the ends down with glue.

No more Bright Yellow cord on the tabletop!

The finished project,

with a silicone dipped bulb.

Bird Abode.. .

The birds are singing & flirting..

and it will soon be time,

to feather their nests.

So I thought I would share a couple,

bird abodes I have for rent...

I need to get this little house hung up,

I love the old tin ceiling tile..

used as roofing.

This may not be a birds favorite house,

but I hung it from a branch on the rainer cherry tree,

and love to watch it sway in the breeze.

I have two of these houses..

one on each entrance to the gazebo.

The nest boxes are for violet green swallows,

the short wide hole keeps predator birds from getting in.

The violet green swallows..

are one of my favorite birds of summer.

I love their acrobatic flying!

and the babies remind me of penguins :-)

Not a bird abode...

but I couldn't resist sharing these pots of pansies

(I need to get planted....busy, busy, busy)

Their happy faces smiling into the sun,

yeah sunshine!

Easter on the Overmantle...

So I have been decorating the overmantle,

for Easter....

I put my velvet covered rabbit...

front and center.

Along with this white wire egg holder,

I topped it with a vintage Easter card.

I love the little straw basket

he carries on his back.

I used natural undyed eggs,

in shades of green.

Araucana hens lay them this way.

I tucked in a couple velvet millinery roses,

for some color,

and because I love to use them whenever I can :-)

On the side shelves I diplayed,

Paper Easter Baskets

This one is vintage...

This one is a reproduction,

and I tucked this sweet little chick beside it.

It feels so nice to be using happy spring colors again,

shaking off the winter blahs!
