I was poking around at Tuesday Morning's
a discount housewares shop...
(I'm not sure if this is a national store?)
(click photos to enlarge)
I found the cutest candle holder base,
except....
It started like this....
Loved the style,
but not so much the dark coloring...
So I layered acrylic paints onto it...
For the first coat I used light ivory, and antique white
alternating and mixing a little with broad brush strokes...
Then the edges were scuffed
and
painted with dark grey and silver
once again with broad messy brush strokes...
going for heavy shabby :-)
Now it feels just right...
Soft and dreamy...

so pretty!!
Love it....the paint made all the difference. Yes there are Tuesday Mornings all over the country but ours closed about a year or so ago. It was a neat store and you never knew what you were going find in there...sometimes oodles of stuff...sometimes nothing. Great find for you!!! xxoo Diana
I don't know how you find these wonderful treasures Bella, the candlestick is gorgeous with the roses on it.
Your paint job has added depth and a softer vintage look.

Hello Bella! Terrific transformation! I love Tuesday Morning! I confess I have gotten there early to stand in line for a few of their 'special' sales.
They are a treasure trove of wonderful things. You've convinced me that I need to transform something I got from them years ago...
Happy Thursday,
Kathy
