Growing up in Los Angeles
a White Christmas
was completely out of the question...
just like the pony
that topped my Christmas list each year :-)
(click photos to enlarge)
Even though I have been in Washington
for over thirty years,
a White Christmas is still rare here...
So if it seems
I am a little obsessed with icy
Christmas scenes...
I have learned...
Sometimes, you have to create your own dreams :-)
Today I turned my dining room mirror
into a frozen wonderland..
I have shown you this mirror before...
Here when I painted it
(the new antique white,
is so much better for a winter scene!)
and
Here when I dressed it for fall...
I bought the branches at Michael's years ago...
The tiny crystals are so messy
I swear every year I won't do it again...
But I like it too much
and can't resist...
I add glittery stars, icicles and crystals
to complete the deep freeze...
The corners of the mirror are sprayed
with frost spray...
The icy pattern crystallizes right in front of your eyes
and washes off easily with Windex....
My Frozen Dream...

Bella,
I love your Winter scene you created, I have been in Florida for the last 33 years and I miss the Michigan Christmas (but not six months of the year) I was raised in.

Oh goodness Bella- This is absolutely beautiful! I love the stars and the entire vignette is gorgeous!
I completely get it. Snow at Christmas is a bit rare here too. We did get blessed with an all out blizzard last year which had never happened here before. Longing for another this year so I decorated with lots of white and snowflakes, etc.

Hi Bella
Well, you have captured the essence of a frosty winter scene perfectly. As I look out my kitchen window I see the same sort of snowy wonderland, minus the deer though!
Judith
Hi Bella,
You are creating a wonderful winter wonderland-I enjoyed catching up with you.I love your little white house scene too.
We do not have any snow here now either- our winters have changed as we used to have all kinds of snow by now sometimes even in Oct.
I do hope we both get some soon!
Carolyn

That looks like something right out of the "Nutcracker" ballet or something, Bella! I just saw Frost Spray at Hobby Lobby today and wondered what it looked like. I can't believe how cold and wintery you made that mirror look! Really wonderful!
xoxo laurie
Did you make those stars? I love glitter! I'm writing a blog post about a glitter garland that I made this past week.
Oh Bella, your mantel is absolutely stunning! You go girl! Have a great weekend.
Judy
Hi Bella,
I am definitely inspired! I have a huge mirror over our parlour fireplace. I think I might try this idea next year. I have those same sparkly, glittery branches and you are right; they are messy!!! But they are so pretty! Right now they are on my white theme tree, so this will be a next year project!!!
Gorgeous!!!!
Wow, this is fabulous! Made me look three times! I'd bet these pics don't even do it justice. Amazing!
