Today I went to a sale, for a good cause...

A handful of pretty vintage goodies

will shake the winter blues right outta you...

I can never resist a creamer

even though I don't use cream.

They make lovely vases...

faded Spray Roses fill my new creamer perfectly...

I am crazy for crazing...

This little creamer is crazed to perfection...

I am sure I have enough crocheted linens,

though  I can never resist just one more...

a couple pretty serving pieces...

The sale was for a dear lady...

who's little store is always a pleasure to visit..

Sandy has breast cancer

 her friends have opened her store for a benefit,

to help her battle the expenses...

He hung a tiny chandelier...

because he knows

some girls swoon for sparkly light...

Now he sits on his little perch,

singing his lovely song...

waiting for love.

Having a bit of spring in the air....

inspired me to build a bright and cheery

breakfast in bed tray...

a tiny urn of Crocus is the star of the show...

Raspberries speak of warm days

and will help to build the illusion of spring...

because in truth it is still very cold in the mornings...

fresh fruit and flaky croissants

are a natural pair...

and also a no fuss nosh...

mixed vintage silver and napkins

keep it elegant but casual...

it feels good to lounge and dream of spring

for just a bit...

More winter weather is sure to be here soon!

First Blooms of the Year...

It was an exciting day in the garden...

I was surprised to see

the early Crocus opened today...

We have had an unseasonably warm

couple of weeks...

what a joy to see their bright happy faces!

bathed in a bit of sun....

I am sure we will still have more snow

February is usually our snowy month...

but, what a nice mid-winter break this is!

On Monday... I went to Half Price Books.

I saw on someones blog they had found some great books...

(I wish I could remember who?)

I was wanting

Pierre-Joseph Redoute's

books of Rose plates....

I plan to collect frames at garage sales this summer

and fill my house with a rose garden

of these amazing botanical color plates...

When I got to the store

they had two books of good quality prints...

The first had larger plates and a white background

the other smaller plates on a linen colored background...

I couldn't resist buying both ;-)

They make my heart sing!

I took a quick peek in the gardening section of the store

and found this giant book!!

The Ultimate Rose Book

Stirling Macoboy

No kidding, this book features 1500 roses,

with lovely color photos,

and weighs in at over 7 pounds!!

It's the season for love...

Since hearts are fragile,

being kept under glass in a cloche

 seems smart...

maybe...

even locked away with a key...

for protection?

but...

a heart should never be without romance

so there should always be roses :-)

Good Things come in Threes...

There had been a drought here,

no it's not in the weather...

It's in garage sales!

So today, I had to go poking around

and find a bit of rainy day fun...

Like these three Limoges plates

I found at a local thrift store..

Limoges always cheers me up!

How could it not?

With it's delicate ruffled rim

and dainty flowers...

So completely feminine...

Do you remember the hot pink Primrose

I showed you

a couple weeks ago?

The flowers keep blooming

each time a softer pink...

It's now the softest shade

of what I call ballerina pink...

Did you take ballet lessons as a girl?

this was the color of my leotard and tutu.

See,  I was a pink girl from the start :-)
