I don't think I have ever been
accused of being a minimalist!
More likely.. I often don't know when to stop...
maybe that's why the over the top styling
of Victoriana has always engaged my soul...
(click photos to enlarge)
Though, after the holidays
when most of the glitter is swept away...
I like to pause
and keep things to a minimum
a quietness...
Then as the spring begins again
the decorating
begins again... slowly
organically...
Right before Christmas,
I painted this little dresser in the Dining Room..
100 year old houses are not known for their closet space,
so this is my linen closet...
(my husband finds it very odd I keep a dresser in the dining room :-)
Are you ever sold, just by the color name on the paint chip?
This is Ralph Lauren's "Deep Cream"
I love the name... and the color...
I am in love with the little dresser again...
The creamy new paint
drew out the details...
told it's secrets...
shared a glimpse of it's history...
Perched on top
I have freed my little iron bird from his cloche...
Though he still sits in the same nest of potpourri...
The only Christmas I have kept out
is my white glittered house...
It's simplicity spoke of winter
more than Christmas...
And... I couldn't resist a bit of glitter :-)
Even as a minimalist
I am Victorian at heart :-))
Tonight I will be joining the fun at...
Tabletop Tuesdays come say hi to Marty!
Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch
and
White Wednesday at Faded Charm
Thanks for visiting me today!

I have a dresser in my dining room. I don't find it strange. I once read an interview with Charles Faudree, I think it was him. And, he was asked what the most versatile piece of furniture was and he said a chest, aka dresser. French and English interiors have them in the public living spaces a lot. So, I stuck mine there too out of necessity! LOL Yours looks wonderful cream!

Bella your pictures are so beautiful! I really love the picture of the crystal!
Oh how I have missed your wonderful posts.. I'm now back from our trip to South America and can't wait to catch up!!
Love what you did with the dresser.. I have antique dresser that I too keep in the dinning room I use it for table linens. It was my first purchase when I went away to school and it has remained with me. Wishing you a wonderful week!! xo HHL
Oh Bella your dresser looks wonderful! It does show off the details. Great idea for the dining room. Love your vignette too.

Just beautiful Bella! Love keeping the glittered house out, mine will look similar tomorrow:@)
Hi Bella, I love your beautiful dresser... oooh, what secrets did it tell?... I think it looks gorgeous in your dining room and your little birdie in her nest of potpourri is so sweet... I will never be known as a minimalist either... much more fun this way anyway!... xoxo Julie Marie
It's Beautiful Bella- I have a large dresser I use in my dining space as well- it holds everything and I just moved the two mirrors to different areas - I say if you like it and it works for you- go for it! I think it looks beautiful all painted creamy and your vignette is lovely too! :)
Hi Bella! What a beautiful dresser! I love it and I love how you've dressed it too! So pretty.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
All of your pictures are so pretty today! I'm just charmed by your little rose petal nest and bird. Love your little winter cottage too. Your dresser turned out beautifully. You're getting quite a bit of white going, yes? And that NW weather! We have the altitude for snow, but not the moisture of farther north like Santa Fe and up into Colorado. We'll get a late spring snow. xo
Love your pretty dresser in the living room. I use my radio cabinet in the living room for my linens.
I love the dresser and the vignette. Great look! So clean and fresh!
It's lovely! And just the name deep cream makes me hungry! Vanna
Love your sweet dresser! I have my glittery winter house out on my dining table too! Love that little bird on the dresser too! Blessings!
Bella.. beautiful again.. I love your iron bird!!!
Your dresser turned out beautifully and what a great place to store linens (I am using the old dressers from when our kids were young for table accessories and linens). Perfect winter decorating on top too! The birdie is lovely in his floral nest and that glitter house is a terrific winter decoration!

I loved the pictures and that dresser is awesome. I bet it has many stories to tell.. I love the fresh clean look of my home when I pack away all my Christmas items, however, I do leave my snowmen up until Valentines day so Cupid has some friends to play with.. The last amounts of glitter I found hanging around the house I threw in my fireplace on Sunday and took some pictures. If you visit my homepage you'll see the "Fire in the Heart" picture, that was a total surprise to see after downloading the pictures!
Have a beautiful week!
I know exactly what you mean about Paint. I bought a tin of paint by Laura Ahsley called 'creamwear' And I love it it's just like all the old porcalin juggs and bowls. Lovely photos
Love Dawn xx
I love YOUR type of minimalism! Your dresser looks perfect in that room and the Cream Color is wonderful...and yes, I have bought a paint just for the name of it! Canvas being one of them..
Happy Winter Months to you in the lovely world you have created for yourself, Bella. I love visiting you~ xxoo Diana
Your dresser is gorgeous and you've used such beautiful things to dress it. The lamp is stunning. Such a lovely vignette. Thanks so much for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
Very cute display. Like the white!
What a good idea to paint this dresser. It looks great. I like very much the little bird on its dried petals nest.

Hi Bella
I think it's a great idea to store your linens in the newly painted dresser, and I love the colour. My overflow of doilies etc. are kep in a dresser too. (but in a bedroom)
The simple pieces on top of the dresser are just enough and the bird is sweet sitting amongst the pot pourri.
I found a lamp similar to yours, minus the shade last summer when walking the dog and picked it up to carry home. The cord cut off and the light works removed and it's now a little statue in my white garden.
Hugs,
Judith
Beautiful whites, Bella! Happy White Wednesday - Tanya
I love how you have decorated. The bureau is gorgeous.
Hi Bella, Love all your photos today, I especially love your dresser it's beautiful... and I love that shade of white!!!

Hello
your house looks beautiful and I love that color. I make it a point not to look or read the paint colors when I chose paint. The name will influence me and I want the color to... paint is tough enough to choose!
Blessings

oh, I just love that little bird on his nest!!!
Hi Bella,

I love the dresser & the color you chose! You decorated it beautifully. My husband would love me to be a minimalist, but I don't know if I could keep it up!! My house is definitely minimalistic right now for the sale! Pretty!
