Here in the Pacific Northwest
bare root roses arrive on my door step
around the first of April...
last year I added Old China Blush to my garden...
it is said to be the Rose
Thomas Moore wrote about....
'Tis the last rose of summer,
Left blooming alone;
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone;
No flower of her kindred,
No rosebud is nigh,
To reflect back her blushes,
Or give sigh for sigh.
Left blooming alone;
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone;
No flower of her kindred,
No rosebud is nigh,
To reflect back her blushes,
Or give sigh for sigh.
wasn't I surprised
to see...
it was my
First Rose of Summer...
maybe I should
write a poem...
sweet and petite...
Rose season has begun!

A beautiful rose to start the season with. HPS Michelle
Rose season has begun and I am in delighted that you will be sharing many more breathtaking photos, like these, with us once again!

Lucky girl!!! You are quite a ways ahead of our growing season. My roses have tiny green leaves on them, but that's it. The peonies are growing, but it'll be another month before they bloom. Until then....I'll just cherish your beautiful garden, Bella! :)

So very, very beautiful, Bella. Your photographs just get better all the time! Lovely- I am so jealous. I think we lost all of our rosebushes nd several others this year- xo Diana
It's exquisite, and what a surprise to be the first rose of the season. My knockout roses were in full bloom in recent weeks, but they've begun to fade. The nice thing is there will soon be another round.
Thanks for sharing this beauty. Happy Pink Saturday!
Your roses are beautiful Bella...
Have a wonderful weekend~

I have not seen any roses blooming here in Oregon City or nearby parts. Lucky you!!
Roses already! Not in the chilly UK though. Over here it's known as Old Blush Chine - same rose but different word order. It's lovely whichever order the words come in though. Interesting about the poem too, I didn't know the name of the rose it referred to until now.
Beautiful photos and such a gorgeous rose!
Tiny strawberry, columbine, and delphinium leaves are just now starting up in our cottage garden. It will be summer before there are any roses here!
Enjoy your beautiful garden!

Bella,how beautiful. I wish I could fit in more roses.
Gorgeous! Love them in the cup. Have a beautiful day, Bella.
Blessings,

Beautiful Bella! (You certainly have the right name!) I love the poem, too. We are no way near roses blooming, so I am enjoying yours!
Exquisitely breathtaking. That is a gorgeous rose, and your photos are stunning. We don't have blooms yet, but we have lots of buds. I can hardly wait.
Happy Pink Saturday, Bella. I am so glad you joined us this weekend. Thank you for making Pink Saturday special.
Beautiful! Beautiful rose, photos, and poem! Thanks for the loveliness!

Old China Blush is a beauty, but in my garden it is not flowering yet. I love this rose and you made great decorations with them. It is one of my favourite roses also because it is continuing in bloom until December when frost begins.
Oh you definitely should write a poem! but your photos are poetry enough. All gorgeous, but the last is my favorite. So glad to see your beautiful roses again! xx
You are a girl after my own heart! I followed a photo of your garden through pinterest, which I rarely if ever do. I am so happy I did, our gardens are so different, but there is a kindred garden loving quality I see. Beyond beautiful garden you have, swoon! Warmest, Vanessa {A Fanciful Twist}
Your roses are stunning! Spring is finally in full gear here in Michigan, but it's too early for roses. They are my favorite flower.
Beautiful!!! I am still waiting for my first daffodil of spring.
