Hello May,
don't you love May?
I do...
last week,
my friend Jacqueline at Cabin and Cottage
showed off some lovely vintage fashions,
and mentioned
the PBS show Mr. Selfridge...
well, I have learned when Jacqueline recommends a TV show
to pay attention,
she has very good taste!
she was the one who pointed me at Downton Abbey,
enough said....
on an episode
of Mr. Selfridge...
when designing a signature perfume
for the store,
Lily of the Valley was chosen to be the scent...
Henri Leclair
explains to Angnes Towler...
in Paris on the First Day of May
young lovers
give bundles of Lily of the Valley to each other...
I find that completely sweet...
I may not be in Paris,
or exactly young...
but,
still...
still...
I picked a bundle for my lover...
for truly,
love is always young at heart,
and we can dream of Paris...
Happy May Day!!
I am linking up at...
and
Thanks for stopping by today...

Such high praise! But I love that scene too. Except for photos, I have never seen Lily of the Valley grow, or even in the nursery or florist. It seems so exotic for that reason. But I knew you would have something exquisite for May Day! SO beautful all tied up in that pretty handkerchief. I hope it's a beautiful day for you two. You should plan for Paris together!
P.S.! I meant to say thank you for the lovely compliment! Happy May Day!
Hi Bella, very nice post as always! Love the photo with the Lily of the valleys peeking out of the white wicker basket. What a sweet gesture that you gave this little bouquet to your loved one! Wishing you a wonderful May!

Hi Bella,
I love Mr. Selfridge too. It is a great show. Love all your pretty pics of the Lily of the Valley. Happy May Day.

Those lilies of the valley are so beautiful. I think that Parisian custom is wonderful. How nice that you have some in your garden to give to your love.
I love Mr. Selfridge too and look forward to every episode. Don't you wonder what Henri Leclair's secret is?
Your lily of the valley bouquets are just beautiful and so perfect for May Day.
Cindy
I, love lily's.
Beautiful photo's.
Enyoj your weekend.
Love,
Annette
I wish i had some to pick. So sweet. I wish I could watch Mr. S but the way they filmed it the camera moves around too much and gives me a headache. I know I would love it. I lve Downton Abbey and I get a headache sometimes if they show too much downstairs scenes because they do the same thing. But I have been a fan from day one and could never give it up. Can hardly wait till next season! Happy May day.
How sweet, Bella! I love the little basket. Oh, to be young and in love in Paris! I love Downton Abbey, _ I will have to take a peek at Mr. Selfridge. I just love the fashions and the decor of the mansion. I think I miss the dialog too much because I am focused on all the details! I need to buy the DVD so I can stop it and examine every detail! Lovely post - Happy May, my Dear! xo Karen
Beutiful pictures of one of my favourite flowers too,the lily of the valley. The scent is heavenly!
Bella, Lily of the Valley is such a sweet flower and makes the loveliest of bouquets. No doubt you grow these in your garden. That makes this sweet bouquet all the more special. Happy May Day, my friend!
Happy May Day, it is all as beautiful as you!

How sweet, they are so pretty all tied up in lace. The scent of Lily of the Valley was a favourite of my dear mothers as was Evening in Paris. They seem to go hand in hand. I hope you get to Paris one day. I think it's every girls dream.
I used to fill the empty little bottles with water, when I was tiny and pretend to have the real thing.
Love Mr Selfridge too. Thank you for the memories. xx
Stunning photography!
Lilies of the valley is one of my favorites and your pictures are really gorgeous.
Such beautiful flowers and such sweet words and pictures.

So pretty Bella! I only see green on my Lily of the Valley's right now - maybe i'll see blooms soon? Your bouquet is so pretty... Fishtail Cottage's seasonal garden party started this week - would love to see you link up sometime! xoxo, tracie
My elderly great Aunt used to grow Lilly of the Valley when I was a child and I remember the sweet little posies she'd place in bud vases on the kitchen table. I don't think I've ever seen it grown since. Thanks for reminding me of such sweet memories. Happy Mother's Day.
Hugs ~ Kerryanne
