A Shabby Frame...

An empty frame

hangs in my foyer...

 

I keep it decorated

to my season or mood...

 

I like the blank canvas feel,

a place to think in /or out of the box...

 

although this vignette 

feels a bit like Valentines Day

I built it much sooner...

 

Love was in the air early...

 

and I was inspired by the want to preserve

 these perfectly pink roses....

 

The fragrance always remains

on the hand

 that gives the rose.

Throw Back Thursday - The Girls

I am just popping in with a quick hello today...

lately when I have been going through old photo files 

I just feel like making mosaics...

after almost seven years of blogging

the amount of photos

I have is ridiculous!

I wish I had known to organize them better!

I never would have guessed blogging would be so fun 

and I would still be here snapping and typing away!

My Girls..

Daisy and Iris

have grown up on my blog!

I love how they make perfect little bookends in the top shots,

and

how much they loved a piece of twine they found 

in the veggie garden below..

they do make my life so sweet <3

Pop Hearts...

Making homemade Pop Tarts

was one of those those recipes I always wanted to try...

I don't know why I waited so long

they were super easy....

and I cant help but call them 

Pop Hearts

since its almost Valentines Day...

 first you just roll out your favorite pie crust recipe

or store bought pie crust...

and cut them 

into your shape of choice...

a dollop of jam goes into the center of each one,

be careful to keep the edges clean

so they seal well...

place a second heart over the jelly...

crimp the edges with a fork...

I poked steam vent holes

with a toothpick...

I baked these on parchment paper 

not this cooling rack...

but that photo got lost...

I baked mine at 375 degrees

until lightly brown 

on the edges...

then come the fun part,

dressing them up...

I used a light glaze and sprinkles...

my glaze was just powdered sugar

almond milk, cherry flavoring and a little red food coloring...

they are so delicious...

Here in the Pacific Northwest

Winter Days can be pretty gloomy...

so a sun splashed afternoon 

in the sitting is a treat....

only made better 

by hot tea

and something sweet...

more Dusty Miller,

its become a winter staple...

and these sweet roses 

are paper...

a sentiment mug...

this homemade pop tarts...

which I am calling Pop Hearts...

Iris moved in

on my sunny spot

and kept a close eye on the sweets...

I have never met a dog

with a bigger sweet tooth!

the Pop Hearts

were easy to make and super delicious...

Dusty Miller Wreath...

Happy Weekend Everyone...

 

I think most of us are craving a taste of Spring about now...

I know I am,

anything live and green...

 

so I made this Dusty Miller Wreath

last week...

 



it all started

when I added some Dusty Miller

 to a bouquet awhile ago,

it was wilted in the garden

but popped right up fresh as new when it came inside...

 

 

so right there I decided to make a wreath...

 

I cut big bundles

and let them sit in water for a day

to perk up...

 





who would have ever guessed

 it was below freezing and snow was on the ground

when I cut these wisps...

 



 

I love making simple wreaths

this one took maybe 15 minutes...

 

I would love to do a tutorial if anyone is interested?

 

I actually made this wreath four days ago,

and it looks just as fresh

as it did when I made it...

 

I had no idea

 just how hardly Dusty Miller is

but I will be planting a lot more next year!

A Walk in the Garden Past...

It all started yesterday...

 

with this photo,

which Google sent me

for rediscover the day...

 

that series of photos was just two years ago...

 

this year is entirely different,

since our snow just melted....

 

but it lit a Spring Fever in my soul...

 

so I decided to make a Throwback Thursday Post

garden style...

 

I think I would like to do this

regularly for awhile!

 

It was so much fun and inspiration
