Flowers Afloat...

Today.. I decided to set a so fru fru table:-)
sweet and romantic.

(click photos to enlarge)

I kept the colors simple...
just pink and white with
a pop of lavender in the centerpiece.

I used my Cottage White plates with the basket weave pattern,
with a pink depression glass plate on top.

The stemware is also pink depression glass,
I wanted the candlelight to sparkle in the glassware.

The napkins are Rachael Ashwell Shabby Chic,
with a floral napkin ring.

I flared the napkin out to show the beautiful edging.

The shape of the napkin looks like a ladies dress,
the napkin ring a belt at her waist :-)

Here is a side view...

We are sitting in the parlor again.
I love to sit here in the summer because
it has the best view of the front garden.

But... since this is a romantic dinner
we should close the shade,
and enjoy the candlelight.

The center piece is a shallow glass bowl
of floating flower heads..
lit with a floating gel candle.

I love floating flowers...
dreamy!

I place to small bouquets of Pink-A-Boo flowers
on each side of the centerpiece.

I put the flowers in the pink depression fluted glasses.
I found them at a garage sale,
I shared that with you in a post
 about the dish fairy!

Birds and Blooms...

After so much garden center shopping...
Today was a long planting and weeding day.

It even stopped raining for a bit :-)

So... today I am sharing some photos of
Birds and Blooms
from the garden today.

(click photos to enlarge)

First a bit of whimsy,
because I felt a little giddy with seeing the sun!

The rabbit wore a flower in his hare ;-)

A happy clump of Armeria
Sea Thrift Pink...

The Lupine are loving all the rain...

The colorful fat stalks of Lupine
always give the garden a magical feel.

My first Peony of the year.

When we moved to our house there was zero landscaping.
Then in the middle of the gravel driveway
Peonies started popping up.

I dug them up and filled fifty gallon size pots with them,
having no idea what color they would be.

I planted six large groupings along the picket fence,
and shared a few with a neighbor.

When they bloomed, I couldn't have been happier
with the color and double blooms!
I don't know their name,
but they are so pretty!

A few weeks ago I told you about the
Evening Grosbeaks arrival
Click here to see that post.

This year they are staying,
They must be enjoying the cool weather.
They are messy, but delightful to have around.

Also... the Black Headed Grosbeaks have arrived...

and the American Goldfinches,
these are our State Bird.

Thanks for joining me in the garden today!

May Tea for Two...

Today...
I was lucky to enjoy my best friend's company for tea!
My sweet husband is home on vacation
so it was tea for two!
Yes he has a name, it's Mike.
I think he might be tired of being called my sweet husband :-)

So nothing fancy...
just the little table in the front parlor again.
I kept the fru fru to a minimum
and lured him in with sweets!

These Teacups were my Grandmothers.
Part of a complete china set.

The flowers look like wild flowers to me,
and since we just took a little trip
I thought they were an appropriate choice.

Here is the bottom...

Yummy...

The bait...
Raspberry Kolacky cookies.
(Czechoslovakian cookies)
I bought at the bakery... it's vacation!

Some flowers...

I made a little bouquet with one of my favorite roses,
April in Paris.
They are not really happy about our bad weather...
but they smell fantastic!

and..
More rain today... so
more garden centers.
Where I found this gorgeous Tree Peony.
She has no name,
and her blooms are a little past their peak,
But.. I got a 30% discount!
And she makes my heart pitter patter,
and thats what is all about :-)
