and... Then There Was ICE!

Hi Everyone...

The first part of this is yesterdays post...

We have been without power for the last 40 hours,

but thanks to our generator,

snug and cozy...

we are all back on now,

at the end of the post I'll share today's new pics...

My soft blanket of snow has turned hard...

Now a world encased in ice...

each tree sparkles like a chandelier...

harsh yes,

but BEAUTIFUL!

today my lady looks sad,

frozen tears...

she watched through the night,

as the ice formed

and the trees began to break...

perfectly preserved rose hips...

Today I took these pics...

the park across the street...

in the quiet stillness of the night

you could hear

the explosion of each tree...

cracking and crashing...

I saw hundreds of trees just like this...

a neighbors home...

There is a lot of clean up

but nature is resilient!

and there will be lots of wood chip mulch

for the spring!

and my little town is cozy again tonight,

and it is a comfort to hear the furnace purring...

A Constant Snow...

The fickle snow of yesterday,

turned to a constant snow overnight...

a bajillion snowflakes fell...

each flake so minuscule,

it looked more like  a soft fog,

than snow...

the world was blanketed in a soft hush...

our patience paid off...

a world in white...

not much use for a sun dial today...

snow softly covered the icy edges

of the koi pond...

from above,

you can just make out

the ghostly shapes of the koi...

this was the girls first snow...

big brother Cosmo led the way..

Iris was first to explore..

sniffing...

before long she was frolicking...

but,

soon decided it wasn't tasty...

Daisy joined in...

in case you are wondering

 where the three older boys are...

they made a mad dash for the couch,

when they spotted the snow...

romping in unison...

I thought I would share a few pics

of the valley,

on my drive into the store...

in the end,

Iris joined Randy and Berry

on the couch...

but,

kept a close eye on the snow,

and all the birds that came in for seed and water...

a sign of spring?

Fickle Snow...

For three days

I have been taunted...

by a fickle snow...

she and I wait patiently,

for the big event...

it is expected to arrive tonight...

a big storm brews on the horizon,

6-12 inches of the fluffy stuff is expected..

I do say EXPECTED 'cause

you know how fickle mother nature can be...

I popped out pre-event

and ran some errands,

picked up some odds and ends...

in the end

I think mostly odds...

like a half a dozen cupcake bath melts...

I am envisioning a long walk

 in the freshly fallen snow,

followed by a long hot

cupcake sweet bath...

have you let the holidays go?

or have you held on,

just a little?

I have held on a little..

I couldn't part with my tiny wings,

quite yet...

and a tiny strand on rice lights,

an after Christmas sale purchase,

couldn't wait until next year...

to add a little sparkle to a winters day...
