Did everyone hit the garage sales this weekend?
Or if you are so lucky the flea markets!
One of my favorite finds
is handmade and vintage lace edgings.
Today I washed and ironed some bags of trims
I was lucky enough to find this summer...
(click photos to enlarge)
Bags are usually mixed lots
with a bit of this and a bit of that..
A small bit of pretty and delicate lace...
This vintage lace collar with rosettes is a favorite find!!
oodles of delicate vintage machine made lace...
But my favorites are the crocheted trims!
I plan to use some to trim cotton dish towels,
and I want to line my cupboards edges with
some of the longer pieces....
The pattern of this piece reminds me of dragonflies...
Usually I buy the pieces in gallon bags
grab bag style,
sight unseen... for next to nothing.
It's like Christmas to come home
and open the bag to see what pretties are inside :-)
This piece just made my heart sing,
a nice long strip of lacy scallops :-)
Today I am joining
Olga at Olga's Home and Garden Blog
for Handmade Monday
and
Mary at Little Red House
for Mosaic Monday
I think Mary is taking a break this week, oops
I thought I would share my
Crazy Quilt Lacey Mosaic anyway :-)
Thanks for visiting me today!

Dearest Bella,
These pretty laces made my heart sing too! Especially you being SO knowledgeable about all the different laces; exceptional. Even in catalogs from Neiman Marcus and such I find descriptions of garments like knitted when it actually is crocheted etc. You fare well with all of this and you for sure will find a good purpose for each one of them!
Thanks for showing them to all of us; it is obvious that you live in a worthwhile area with lots of treasures!
Wow: 333 followers - nice numbers...

Guten Morgen bella
Wo findet man so herrliche Schätze???

How beautiful! I'm just starting to appreciate these delicate lovelies. Growning up my Mother was always making something - I guess I took for granted what a skill she has and that she made wonderful pieces. Luckily she didn't give up that I truly would learn to appreciate them and has kept a small collection for me - for when the day arrived...HHL
oh so lovely beautiful lace...
I love laces!!!!
And in your blog i found them!
Kathrine
Hello, Guten Morgen, and Ciao! Bella! Don't you love Olga's new button? Your lace mosaic is pretty clever too! Crazy, one of my favorite things to do is transform those bags of lace that I NEVER find. No, no shopping for me this weekend-boo hoo, but it's just as well. . . I did go out during the week and found a new big brown transferware pitcher!! It will make it's appearance eventually. LOVE your laces! Jacqueline

Hi Bella! Gotta love those garage sales this time of year! I adore adding lace to ordinary pillow cases to 'vintage' them up a bit. So pretty and nostalgic!

hello, beautiful! LACE IS A DISTINCTIVE PIECES INCLUDING THAT DEFINE THE LOVE. When I think of being FEMININE LACE IN THE ROMANCE, at the time when the lace was used more women creating art works in their clothes, now we can reinvent their use in so many ways, it is definitely beautiful blessing you could get so beautiful and extensive collection, marie rose greetings
Flea markets are full of treasures and laces are of them.
Like you I love ancient lace. How lucky you are to have them. Those are beautiful.
