Last Year
I picked up a Miniature Rose Bush
at the grocery store...
I planted it last summer
and was surprised to see it thrived...
(click photos to enlarge)
So I was thrilled to see them in the grocery store
again last week...
and picked up three...
I will have perfect tiny blooms all spring,
then to the garden they go...
a clever friend asked last fall if
the beautiful leaves of Dusty Miller
could be dried?
I had to try it...
yes... Jacqueline,
they dry perfectly!
You must go see what other clever ideas Jacqueline has
at Cabin & Cottage!
Besides it is White Wednesday
her favorite party of the week
and she never fails to delight you!
Of course Pink Roses are my favorite!
the pure romance
of just a wisp of pink blush....
Tonight I am joining
White Wednesday at Kathleen's...
and
Saturday Show Off with Hakan
Thanks for visiting me today!

Hi Bella,
I was surprised too when some of my grocery store roses made it through our winters-makes them a pretty cheap treat!
You made some pretty pics with them.
I always enjoy Jacqueline's blog too.

Beautiful post! And definitely Cabin & Cottage is a great blog to visit!
You know Bella, I'm actually trying to achieve the opposite. I'm experimenting growing miniature roses from bigger bush clippings. I think it might work.
Last year I planted a few rose clippings from a big bush. In the spring, they turned into a small bush with lots of small buds. I removed all the buds before they started blooming, so my new rose would grow bigger and stronger, which it did.
So this year, I want to try growing small rose bushes in pots. It may or may not work; I don't know. But if it works, I will definitely share my achievements on my blog.
Have a wonderful day!
Beautiful pictures.I have 2 miniture roses and adore them. Please pop over I'm having a giveaway..xx

Hi Bella
My minatures from the grocery store didn't last too long here, maybe short-lived in our climate.
Yours are pretty and of course you have a green thumb!
Hugs,
Judith

Miniature roses are great! I never thought to plant them!
Beautiful pictures!! lovely
day darling........love Ria.....
Hi Bella, what nice pictures. I know people who throw out the miniture roses once they finish blooking but if you look after them they will usually grow on to make nice roses in their own right.
That's fantastic as usually those grocery store roses aren't known for surviving.. Beautiful!
Beautiful post. Your photography is exquisite. ~~Sherry~~
delicious!! I didn't know you could dry dusty miller; it's beautiful.

I love roses from the grocery store. They usually have a wonderful collection. I visited a friend in the hospital yesterday and went by and picked up a pretty pink mini rose bush. They had an orange one that I really wanted. I better get back there before she is gone, Char

WOW....I am impressed. I never buy bushes from the grocery store because I was under the (wrong) impression that they don't last. I am going to be looking now for some beauteous mini rose bushes!
Your photos are breathtaking, as usual!

Hallo from Sweden!
What a beautiful blog you have.
Lovely roses.
Hi, I have the best luck with my minis here in Colorado! I watch for them at the grocery store, too, but can't get them too early because mine do not like to be inside at all. The best thing is there are usually three or four plants in a pot and they are inexpensive. I guess that's two things! ♥♫
You have so beutiful pictures of roses and other things! Here in Finland, we have so cold winters that roses frozen :( Now this summer is very warm and beautiful that I can enjoy also roseflowers
