The Old, the New and the Now?

Keeping old bits from the garden
around the house in the winter is the normal,
around here anyway...

I especially like petals scattered
around candles...

memories of days gone by,
a romantic nod to the past...

a few fresh new blooms
tucked in around the house
add life to a winters day...

how can you not
feel the warm sun on your face
when you inhale...

as for the now..

is it spring already?
have I overslept?

or are they teasing us...

the stores are rolling out the racks,
cyclamen,  pansies and primroses...

too tempting not to indulge a bit...

when really
I am still hoping for snow!

Happy

Have a Great Weekend!

An Afternoon with David, Berry and Daisy...

I am not lucky enough
to have a garden full of roses
in the middle of winter....

and the long wait from the last bloom
till the first new bloom,
seems endless
on dreary winter days...

David Austin knows this...

that is why his beautiful catalog arrives
right around Christmas time...

whether you are a gardener with dirty hands
or a gardener in your heart...

his dreamy catalog
will have you oohing and aahing...

and they are free here is the link...

New for 2012
Princess Anne
has already stolen my heart and is on the
top of my list...

can't you just smell the Tea Rose now?
aah...

Berry my ever at the ready to snuggle buddy
waits for me on the sofa...

Daisy decide to get in on the cuddle too...

I have learned I will never be a pet photographer,
getting one to be still and sit pretty is hard enough,
two has been nearly impossible..

I was glad to get a nice set of pics of the two together,
Daisy is like looking back in time,
she looks just like Berry did
when he was a pup...

pretty pink roses brighten the day!

Whole Foods has free trade roses,
for only ten dollars a dozen
that last and last...

that is when there are not two rebellious
 wild puppies on the loose...

you know those romantic movie scenes,
millions of rose petals scattered down the hall
and across the bed...
the girls could be set designers for this
except they include the stems and leaves...

well, at least I have pretty pics:-)

2nd Annual Parade of Roses....

Happy New Year!

I thought I would continue
my New Years Day blog tradition
and host my own version of the Rose Parade....

if you missed the 2011 Rose Parade

the original posts are also linked under
each photo below...

We had another wet spring,
but June brought the first
 of the roses to bloom...

It's sometimes hard to love all that spring rain,
but the flowers do look pretty
 dripping wet...

Eden Roses and Catmint
tucked in a Limoges sugar jar,
SWEET!

abundant and droopy...

wild...

pink summer Roses
and aqua Mason jars
are a naturally perfect pairing...

Lazy summer days,
perfect for tea in the garden...

tender Ballerina Blooms...

this summer
I had a love affair with the simple
Bonica Roses...

and added some cherished David Austin Roses
to the garden...

petite bouquets...

a curtain call,
September came too soon....

Rose reigns Queen...
in my heart:-)

Don't you love a parade!
