Our weather has been mild...
(this is a polite understatement)

a day perfect to muse the day away
in the garden...
in the Hydrangea bed...
it's important to bring lots pillows
and a good book...
I am always enchanted by
The Nature Notes of an Edwardian Lady,
by Edith Holden...
I brought along a cup for tea...
the cup and it's newly married saucer,
make a good match,
but not a true pair...
the new couple have just the right feel for todays tea...
nothing too fancy...
I gathered a bouquet of cuttings in my favorite
two sided bucket....
a bouquet Edith would enjoy....
nothing fancy...
the kind of flowers you could gather along the leat....
the kind of flowers,
I find to be the workhorse of my cottage garden...
the self seeders,
who behave a bit naughty...
the sort of flowers that give the garden
that lived in look,
like the magic of finding a secret garden,
wild around the edges...
flowers to press in the pages of a book,
to remind you of a lazy summers day...
tucked into a little nook to sip quietly...
watch the puppies frolic...
a day to maybe,
use long seedpods of the Toadflax,
as a book mark...
and enjoy a nap.....
a day for a just tad of refinement!
a single pink rose....

One of my favorite books! I like the way you have done a trompe l'oeil photo with your flowers! Clever. I just love wild flowers too. This is a pretty place to sit in the garden. Edith would love it.
