I am not a good water photographer
and it is hard to take a photo with one hand
while your other hand is underwater!
But this is just so fun I wanted to share!

to eat out of our hands.....
and since they love cantaloupe...

I never knew Koi liked canteloupe. That is so cute that they eat from your hand.
How awesome to feed fish out of your hand, and not some fish food but cantaloupe. That's a really fun post. Love the pictures!

How did you ever come up with the idea to feed them canteloupe Bella? Had I have known this before maybe our koi wouldn't have pulled my plants out of the pots.
They got too big for our pond (@$200-$300 size) and were driven in an old horse trough to a friend in the county with a huge pond.
The second year there, mink got under the ice in the winter and ate them all.

What awesome images! I have seen koi come to the very top when someone's hand was just above them dropping food down but have never actually seen them eating from someone's hand. Who needs a dog for a pet? And you don't even have to walk the fish! Thanks for the smile tonight! Diana
Wow! Those are such neat shots! I never thought of trying to teach a koi to eat out of your hands and never would have thought to feed them cantelope!!!

I think the pictures turned out really well! I had no idea that koi would eat cantaloupe. I actually had no idea what koi eat at all!
Very cute! I love their big open round mouths! It gives them a perpetual look of surprise!
What a fun little photo essay!! I love koi - would love to have them if I lived in a better environment for them!!
